Lunesta question

My doctor gave me a few samples of lunesta because I haven't been sleeping well.  So I took one last night, slept like a baby, but woke up with the most god awful aftertaste in my mouth.

Has anyone ever taken it and if so, anyone have the same experience with getting an aftertaste?

Re: Lunesta question

  • I haven't personally, but know someone who has. They said it was like waking up with a copper penny in their mouth.
  • yup...that's pretty much the taste.  I've eaten breakfast, chewed gum, drank water...no bueno.  My sleep is valuable to me, but not if I'm going to have this taste.  Gross.

  • They had better luck with Ambien.  Maybe you can ask your doctor about that one.  Sorry you're having trouble sleeping.  It's no fun.
  • i need a new doctor, i asked for ambien and he said i needed to work out the issues in my life causing me not to sleep. :(

i have some friends who take it, will ask them if they had aftertaste issues.

  • OMG Linzee that's terrible...I'm sorry that your doc said that.  I can understand that doctors don't want people to get addicted but really if you went to your doctor with a genuine concern, then s/he should address it and not tell you to work your issues out.  Clearly these things are keeping you awake...which in turn makes you tired and not able to function.  So why not be able to get some decent sleep and maybe then, some of the issues would alliviate themselves because you'd be able to function.

I only got 3 samples...I don't forsee myself needing it regularly, but it definitely helped me fall asleep and get a good nights rest.

What about Tylenol PM since your doctor won't help you out?

    Or...like you said...a new doc!

  • Tylenol PM or Benadryl - 2 pills - work wonders for me.

If I need to sleep, I'll take 2 around 9 pm, go to bed around 10 and wake up refreshed.  I can take one as late at 11, but I'm normally still a little groggy in the am, so I try not to.

    Linzee - I'd get a new doctor.

  • I'm a regular user of Kirkland PM.  I've been trying to avoid taking it lately and onl,y take it during the work week and not on weekends.
  • Ditto the benadryl!! I don't have sleep problems but my DH has had them all his life and benadryl works better for him than any prescription.
