You know you're getting old when...
you get excited about the groceries you bought...ugh. I'm such a loser! I haven't been grocery shopping in a month, and I was so excited to go do it! I got stuff for avocado turkey burgers tonight! Jeff LOVES them and they are SO healthy! : ) I spent quite a bit (but saved $20 in coupons!), but everything I got we actually needed...besides the $20 in soft cheeses for a splurge...oops... : ). But it just sounds so fun to have a cheese & wine night. : ) However, this is the first time I ever had brie, and I really didn't like it...any tips on what to eat it with???
Re: You know you're getting old when...
I love brie! We made a balsamic reduction the other night (just simmer balsamic vinegar until it reduces to a syrupy consistency) and drizzled it over brie on toasted sliced baguette. Ahhhhh heaven! It's also good with pepper jelly.
I also get so pumped about good groceries. I went out to a farmer's market in a very poor area about 30 mins outside of Naples - big farming community- and got so many goodies - mangos, papayas, pomegranates, lychees, tomatoes. All so fresh and pretty!
I'm a member of the dork club too. I love to grocery shop b/c I like to think about all of the possibilities.
Another great way to eat Brie is to buy frozen puff pastery dough (I use Pepperidge Farm) & a jar of your favorite fruit preserves (strawberry, peach, apricot, etc...). Put the wheel of brie in the center of the dough & add a couple of tablespoons of the preserves to the top & then bring the corners up & wrap the brie in the dough - just don't turn it over. Bake at 350 (i think) until golden brown. Serve with Ritz crackers. YUM!
I love grocery shopping when I'm cooking a great meal! The weekly shop however is a bit blah since I lack time to make cool things.
I just love brie I usually eat it on a plain water cracker. However brie and apple slices is also really tasty and I like brie and prosciutto and brie and ham!
Haha..that's so true! Although, grocery shopping kind of sucks right now with the m/s.
I've never tried cooking with Brie so I have no suggestions for you. Rach's recipe sounded delicious!

I love Brie with Tricuits- great balance of flavor with a thicker cracker for me. I made a grilled chicken hoagie with mango salsa and brie melted on top which was really yummy. It was a spin off of a Rachael Ray recipe I'm sure you could find on Foodnetwork.com. I used mango salsa instead of mango chutney which was the original recipe because it was cheaper and more versatile for my cooking habits.
I love grocery shopping too esp trying to get the most for my money!

I love grocery shopping too!!! Especially when I have new recipes
I like some brie, I find a lot of them WAY too salty. I think that's why a lot of people pair it with something sweet. I've got to say that baked brie is amazing! We had this at our wedding, and people loved it! The cook used strawberries and brown sugar instead of fruit preservatives and it was super yummy!

I love doing a big shopping trip and feeling like I have lots of options in the house to cook for dinner.
Try the baked brie - yummy!
baked brie is one of my favorite things in the world. We take the skin off and chop it into about 1" cubes. Then we take pillsbury crescent rolls and when you take them out of the can chop them into halves. Take the raw dough and wrap it around the brie, bake until golden brown. Then we serve it with raspberry jam.
Yum.
This is pretty much exactly what I was going to say
I'm with ya!
