Cary Apartment

Does anyone know anything about Legends at Cary towne?

They seem to be what we are looking for and the reviews seem decent. 1 person said something about "ghetto" part of town. Is there even a ghetto part of Cary.

Re: Cary Apartment

  • I'm not 100% positive where these are, but I googled them and I see the closest bus stop is Buck Jones Rd.  Cary (just like any other city) has some areas that are less than stellar.  Buck Jones Rd area is one of these.  From what I hear it use to be nice, but is slowly going downhill.  Part of Jones Franklin is similar too.  I think the area where the Cary Towne Mall is  is decent.

If you go to the newspapers website: http://www.newsobserver.com/ and click on crime map, you can enter an address and see the crime in the area.  HTH

  • I don't know about those apartments specifically, but the area I was talking about is a high poverty area.  Unfortunately there tends to be more crime in high poverty areas.  I'm not sure on specific crime info though.  Our church is on Buck Jones Rd and they are starting a program to reach out to the community right around the church.  I know the area right around our church is largely hispanic also.  I think furthur up toward Jones Franklin is a more diverse area, but still unfortunately has a lot of poverty.

  • I used to live there.

When we moved in, they said we could paint, as long as we primed it back.  When we left, we primed it with three coats, so definitely no paint was showing through.  They said it was primed too white (we had them check it before we actually moved out) and charged us anyway.  Upon further investigation, they admitted that they changed their painting policy after we moved in, but they never informed us in writing or anything, and demanded we uphold their NEW policy (painting back to the original color) despite the fact that they never told us, and that that was not the policy when we moved in.

Other than that, we had a mouse in our apt. on the 2nd floor (gross!), and the windows collect water really badly in the winter, causing it to be drafty.  The gate was an eternal annoyance, but it was broken most of the time, so it didn't end up bothering us too bad.  There is only one trash dumpster (grr!), but the gym and pool are decent, and the crime was nonexistent, and maintenance was very fast (except for the mouse thing!).

Overall, it was an okay place to live, until we got about 3 months from the end of our lease.  However, the staff at this location are REALLY annoying, despite their seemingly friendly nature at application time.  Please don't live there.
