DH just went off driving by himself!

He got the license yesterday--passed the road test on his first try. Just now he went off to the grocery store to buy me ice cream (because he's been dying for any excuse to go out and when I said "I wish I had some ice cream" he jumped on it, lol.) it's stupid but I'm nervous that he's out there alone! I'm sure he can handle it but after over a year with me as the only driver it's SO weird!

That's kind of like driving with my youngest sister. She's been driving for a couple of years now, but it still takes me a little while to settle in and not get nervous!

I remember this feeling . And the anxiety I had when he drove to Dallas for the first time and dealt with that traffic and those crazy drivers!

I felt so bad when DH went to get his license and the FIRST thing they made him do was parallel park between two poles right beside the DMV! I didn't remember doing that when I took my test so I didn't teach him, oops! He did well enough to pass, though!

That's cool though, that he's using his excitement for your ice cream benefits :-)

I remember doing stuff like that when I just got my license. Getting groceries for my parents and forgetting a key ingredient on purpose so I'd get to drive again.

Update: he's home, alive, car is intact and I'm eating ice cream

That's great.  It's the little trips that help you after you pass to feel more confident as a driver.  And as he does it more, you'll feel more confident too!
