My doctor's nurse just called. I had a gall bladder test yesterday that came back abnormal, and the only solution is to take it out. I meet with a general surgeon on Thursday and hope to have surgery next week so I can be recovered in time for Vegas. I hope.
So, if you could keep your fingers crossed that all goes smoothly as I say adios to my gall bladder, I'd appreciate it.

Re: So long, gall bladder.
Wow, that's a fast turnaround.
What does ones gall bladder actually do?
Fingers crossed!
Praying that the surgery will go smoothly and you have a fast turnaround so you can party it up in Vegas!

From what I've been told, the gall bladder holds the bile produced by the liver and releases it when fatty stuff needs to be broken down. Not enough bile is getting out of my gall bladder, so the fatty stuff isn't getting digested properly and is making me feel like crap. Once it's removed, the bile will just just go from the liver to the places where food is digested, which won't cause issues with digestion or anything like that.
It's probably a blessing in disguise that this is going on...it's forced me to eat less, eat better and quit drinking so much soda. I do feel sick a lot of the time though, so I'm ready for it to be out. Thanks for the T&Ps ladies.
Eb - are you having this done at an MTF ?
my mom had her gall bladder out a few years ago - had it out on Thursday and was back to work on Monday !
good luck - when is surgery date again ?

PGAL/PAL Always Welcome
Surgery will be done locally, and my mom will stay with me to help with JJ for a few days. I thought my insurance would make me go to an MTF, but since I live more than 50 miles away from any military base/post, I guess I get to do it in town.
Surgery date will be set tomorrow, I hope. I'm crossing my fingers that it can be done no later than next Friday.
That's good to know that people bounce back relatively quickly from this - shouldn't have to miss too much work. Sweet!
