Just opened last week a block from work. News is still reporting hour to hour and a half waits to get IN the door (and about 3 hours to make it thru the store). Never been to one and it's the first in CO. Is it worth the wait? Or should I wait until next month or so? Any recs on what to buy vs. what not to buy?
Re: IKEA
I have only been once. I waited months to go when it opene in Mass. I would say wait a couple months till it dies down. It is however a wonderful place. We bought a lot of random crap, we walked around and bought something just because it was 25 cents. We did buy this knife counter set and 5 years later they are still sharp and working great. We left spending about $80 I thinks and came out with bags and bags of stuff.
I would also recommend getting the cinnabuns they are yummy. I have also heard that about their swedish meatballs.
There is no way in hell I'd wait to get INTO Ikea.
I like some of their rugs, along with their prints and photo frames. Some of their storage items are good, and I always buy little things for around the house from there. I like some kitchen stuff too.
I don't care for any cushy furniture from there.
i looooove ikea, but never would i wait to get in. give it a month or so and then go

I have only been once, but you should go. I would not wait to get in though, give it a few months. They have SO much awesome stuff in there! My IKEA catalogue came in the mail yesterday!

I would definitely wait a few months till it dies down. IKEA is no fun when it's uber crowded. I do love me their meatballs and fries kids meal though.
I also like it because it gives good decorating and organizing ideas without costing an arm and a leg.
I LOVE IKEA, but I'm on board with everyone else. It's probably not worth the crowds.
Also, be very aware that you're buying..well...not expensive stuff. And you get what you pay for. All the same though, I have a LOT of IKEA suff in my house.

LOVE LOVE but wouldn't wait to get in unless you are in the middle of decorating and there things you need now.
some words of advice, for when you do go.
dont bring kids(if you have them) its alot walking
wear comfy shoes
dont go unless you have a few hours, there is alot to take in, my first time i was there 3.5 hours
swedish meatballs and kids chicken strips are very good buy the chocolate mousse cake is to die for
if you do buy anything that has to be assembled make sure you triple check the tag and triple check you have all the boxes once you get down stairs. it can be tricky to know you have everything. everything comes separate. most of there stuff is custom to your taste so, example if it has knobs in the display chances are they are NOT in the box you will have to find your style and get them separate.
worse thing is if you miss a box/piece you have to go back
and probably the worst thing about IKEA is when you leave you are going to have a million NEW things you want to get for your house
HAPPY SHOPPING!!!! make sure you post and let us know how you like it and what you got
That's good news! I love IKEA, and I too just got the new catalog in the mail yesterday. I love going through the store and taking my sweet a$$ time. I also love the cinamon rolls. We can't make it out the parking lot with at least eating one.
I don't think it's worth the long lines or the crowds. I would def wait a few months, or get there right as they open the store.
Happy shopping!
Definitely wait a while and if you go, make sure you can fit everything into your car/truckvehicle. And the con about buying furniture aside from any missing parts is that you might get tired quick of putting every.single.piece.together.
And if you know exactly what you want and have it written down, you can easily bypass the showroom floor and go straight to the area where the boxes of furniture and chairs and home textiles are.
