The good news is that my lady parts look good. I had a vaginal ultrasound. They do that by sticking a wand that looks like a dildo with a condom over it about an inch or so in & they are able to get the images that they need from there. Here's what it looks like:
Crazy, right? But I was I was glad to find out that I have 3 follicles forming. Yippee! The bad news is that my progesterone levels are nowhere near where they should be. I went in for blood work about 3 weeks ago & found out yesterday that my progesterone level was 5 when it should be 10 or more. It really made me kind of sad to know that we wouldn't be able to have kids without some sort of help. So, I got a prescription for Clomid (50mg) & will be able to start taking it on Thursday. The Clomid will help my follicles form into eggs. Right now, since my progeserone is low I'm not ovulating - meaning my follicles are never maturing to an egg form & the Clomid is supposed to help them grow.
It wasn't the news that we were hoping for but maybe with the help of the Clomid I'll be able to get pregnant.
Re: F/U to Dr.'s appointment
Ummm wow....
Anyway I know it wasn't the exact result you were looking for but the fact that you have a plan of action is great! On to baby making!
Laurie took the words out of my mouth. Not perfect news, but it puts you on a the right course
Someone needs to put words in my mouth cause clearly I didn't know WHAT to say about the giant wand lol
Yikes! That wand looks dangerous!
Hopefully the Clomid works for you. I have read many success stories with the Clomid!
Happy BDing!

On the fertility boards they call that ultrasound the dildo cam
I've had that done probably a dozen times now, it's not so bad. I'm sorry they found a problem, but it is something that is easily fixable which is a good thing.
Just one warning about Clomid... and I'm hesitant to say this because I don't want to freak you out. When you hear about people having high order multiples through fertility treatment (ie, more than twins) - it often is from Clomid. It's a misconception that it's from IVF thanks to Octomom and the like, but most doctors won't put in more than 2 embryos during IVF. With Clomid there is much less control over how many follicles/eggs develop and OBs are not careful with it as they should be. There are even cases where women overstimulate and end up with a serious medical condition - although that is rare.
Is your doctor monitoring you as you take it? This means checking your bloodwork and doing an ultrasound as you near ovulation. All doctors should be doing this so that if they see like 8 eggs developing they can tell you to abstain that month to avoid the risk. But many many doctors who prescribe Clomid don't do monitoring.
Again, don't want to freak you out - I just want to keep you safe!
I'm glad that you got checked and they are trying to help you. I know two naturopaths who advocate natural progesterone cream. You can buy it from a health food/ vitamin store, or even from my naturopaths sponsored company called Nature's Sunshine. I use the NS brand because I trust the naturopaths and their research in the company. If you want more info on it I can look in my health tips email folder, and of course google is great! Jus mentioning this after Lori's caveat in case you'd like an alternative solution or addition.

You didn't freak me out. My doctor talked with me about it & gave me some info to read. I've also been reading about Clomid on line. I'll be going to the office each month to be monitored so no worries there. Thank you for the advice.
I am totally LOLing over the thought of you sneaking that pic while the doc was out of the room!!!!! So nice of you to think of us! Looks like something my friend bought once at a "pleasure party"
I'm so glad that you have optimistic results, even thought it wasn't what you were expecting to hear. I have no doubt that everything will work out for you in the end. Lots of good luck and ovulation vibes!!!
I want to hug you so big and tight right now...I can't even imagine the mixed emotions that you're feeling. I agree - if I found out we couldn't do it without medical assistance I too would be both hopeful and slightly distraught...I'm so sorry to hear that this isn't the best news.
The good news...you still have options and you still have such an amazing chance to have a baby...I'm thinking of you and praying for you! I'll be saying lots of words for you at Church this Sunday!

Rooting for you!!! Ditto pp, but even though it's a good news/could be better news situation, at least it's not definite "can't/won't/not likely" to happen news.
Around here we make lemonade out of lemons - and lemonade in your case is going to be a beautiful little baby :-))
