I have a new camera!
It's beautiful and I should be excited, but the excitement hasn't hit me yet. I spent about 5 minutes looking it over in the car before heading back to work. I'm just mostly bummed because it's really bad timing to be spending this kind of money, but oh well. I was going to do it after the wedding anyway, so I guess it's okay.
My camera is being sent to Canon, they don't think it's water damage, they said that cameras just die sometimes. Great. They don't expect it to be more than $300 though, so that's good... it's just going to take 3-6 weeks to get it back, and I don't have time to wait that long with my best friend's wedding in 4 weeks and me being the photographer. I also have two newborn shoots in the next week and a half so I can't wait on that either.
Anyhoo... I am excited. Bummed about the money. But excited that I have a big girl camera.

There's More To Life Than Lists (blog)
So far, so good! It's really great, but the differences between this and the $900 younger brother are really only needed if you shoot sports or weddings, and even if you do those things you can do without, so I would probably recommend the younger brother (the newer version of my other camera) if you're in the market!
I'd be happy to share what I know about camera bodies & lenses if you're interested closer to the holidays

What did you end up getting? You use Canon right? I'm a Nikon girl.
Congrats on the new camera. I know the feeling of excitement and dread. Camera stuff is not cheap.

I bought the Canon 7D. It's very nice. I love that it uses the same lenses and flashes as my other camera, so everything's interchangeable. The manual controls are different, so that's a bit of a learning curve I'll need to adjust to. The auto focus is VERY different, and it's much larger so it feels strange to use.
I'll get used to it though

Holy $#!ts. That's a lot of mula, but I guess it'll be worth it because you use it often anyways. DH got me a Nikkon for xmas and I just started to use it. I love it! I'm happy to feel like a big girl when we go out and I take out my moster camera compared to my friends lol But I wouldn't change my regular little camera, she's my clubbing buddy. She fits everywhere
I'll take same advice but I have a Nikkon maybe Kelly can give me some pointers
