I'm so sorry, but I didn't get a copy of July's book....would someone else care to post a discussion thread on GR? Who read it?
Our book for August is The Help, which I read last summer. I can't wait to hear what you girls think of it. I am also hoping to catch the movie next weekend! YAY!
We also need some suggestions for Sept, Oct, Nov and Dec books....anyone??? Are you girls still into this?
Re: Book Club updates
I dont' do the book club thing because I am a read on my own schedule type person, but I've read some great books lately:
Water for Elephants (Sarah Gruen)
The Summer Guest (Justin Cronin)
Black and Blue (Anna Quindlen)
Spinning (Michael Baron) -- note this book had some really tragic grammatical errors that drove me a little crazy, but the story was so great I still have to recommend it!
My MIL has recommended State of Wonder by Anne Patchett and Cutting for Stone (don't know author) --- I haven't read them but she raves about it!
Reading the Help now... Hoping to finish it before the movie comes out. Here is a list from Oprah's Book Club:
Rules of Civility, The Oriental Wife, and Turn of Mind
Shmel's Blog
here is an idea...instead of posting a "book of the month", we can do a monthly "what are you reading" thread. we can post here or on goodreads. thoughts? feelings? i like sharing book recommendations from you girls!
@laurie - def pick up a copy of the Help, i think you will love it!
@ rachel - i had "state of wonder" in my hands yesterday at the library, but didn't get it. next time i will!!
I haven't been able to read much in July but I am defintiely getting ready to dive into The Help, I have been wanting to read that for a really long time.
DH also got me "Lies that Chelsea Handler Told Me" for my birthday so I do want to read that, not sure if anyone else around he has an interest in Chelsea Handler? I love all of her books, and they seriously crack me up.
Hmmm, other suggestions would be (I will think about it and come back!)
