Cell phone

I'm thinking about switching companies. What do you use? [Poll]

Re: Cell phone

  • I'm pretty happy with my verizon service. I've had it since I was in HS and it pretty much gets a signal wherever I am. The customer service has been okay. I haven't had many major problems that required extensive contact with them. And the price isn't bad. I paid for a solo account until just recently when my FIL asked if I wanted to be a part of a family plan (that is significantly cheaper for everyone), and on my solo plan it averaged about $60 a month (just a regular phone, no data plan, paying the $7 for internet only).

My best friend has AT&T and had some battery issues with her HTC inspire and it took a few trips into the store to complain to get them to send a new battery (which ended up being defective), sending a new one which wasn't going to come in on time (she was on a trip and needed a working phone), and finally, AT&T agreed to handle it instore. I think this is a pretty standard warranty manuever though and not solely AT&T, since I am dealing with a similar issue with Best Buy and being sent a defective replacement computer cord.

  • I have ATT and I hate it. The customer service is horrible! I can't even get into all of the issues I have had with them. I had tmobile and they were so awesome. I had to switch because I didnt get service when we moved and it sucked. I have also had verizon and they have the besr reception service but their customer service leaves something to be desired.

ATT just recently purchased tmobile so I am not sure if their service will go down the tubes.

  • I use verizon and Jason uses tmobile, and we both like ours equally.  I think both companies provide equal service/signal, but I know that tmobile is cheaper with things like data plans etc.  I'm spoiled rotten by my Dad and am still on his 'family plan' lol so I am not exactly sure how the costs break down for each thing for verizon except that the data plans are a good bit more than tmobiles.

  • We have Verizon and I like it. we have great signal just about every where... we have a family plan with his parents and we end up paying about 75-76 a month for our two lines and ins. on the phones. (we split the bill right down the middle) as for data goes with them it's 30.00 for unlimited but when i was work there i heard there trying to do away with that plan so if you have it your grandfathered in till you change your plan/phone. we don't have smart phones I just don't see the need to pay for internet on my phone when I'm paying almost the same (if both us had it ) at home for internet.

  • I have always been with Verzion and have very few dropped calls or signal issues. I think they have the most service area of all the companies, but it depends where you are too.

DH just switched to a prepaid company that uses verizons network and he hasn't had any issues either (I forget what it's called) and it's saving us $30 a month because he doesn't need a data plan.

  • I have Verizon and have for many years.  I've always been totally satisfied with the customer service and the signal that I get.  I can't remember the last time I dropped a call, and the only place I have signal issues is in my parents' house, but it's because they have Tech Shield.

My sister has AT&T and it's awful.  She lives in Boston, where she should get a really great signal (I mean, it's a major city!), and she's constantly dropping calls.  It seems to have gotten better lately, though.  My best friend also has AT&T here in Houston and she often drops calls when I'm talking to her when she's driving and she is forever calling me back.

I would for sure recommend Verizon.

  • We have Verizon and love it.  Never have problems with service or lost calls and the customer service is great

  • I have to say I love having verizon.

I've never had issues with them before, I love that they offer discounts, and the one time I had a problem with my phone a guy at the store just fixed it for me without any issues.

    I really can't complain.

  • I've had Verizon, TMobile and now have ATT and have never had a problem with any (regular customer service aggravation, but nothing out of the ordinary).  My last company had Sprint and it was AWFUL!  WORST customer service.
  • We use US Cellular.  I know they are a national company, but some areas have better coverage than others.  In our area the coverage is great!  And they have been really helpful whenever we've had an issue.  One of the better customer service experiences I've had with cell phone companies.
