Here we go again...

I got a call today for an interview at a firm that DH's co-worker sent my resume to. I'm at a point in this whole horrendous job search that I really don't want to share this with anyone in "real" life, because I've learned how embarrassing it can be to report that I didn't get the job. So, obviously DH knows but I'm not even telling my mom.

The interview isn't for 2 weeks, so I have tons of time to prepare. I HAVE to nail this interview - it's not an option. So, I'm welcoming any tips, as well as hard interview questions that you've had trouble dealing with in the past. And pretzel stances would be nice, too, but you can hold off until the actual interview day for those Wink

  • Oh...let's hope third time (this is the third one right?) is a charm!

Shaun interviews people daily but they usually have a standard set of questions. One of them that I know (and hate) is:

What event in your life has changed you the most.

  • I think you need to invest in some lucky underwear or something ;) maybe that will change up your luck cause I'm sure you have the smarts and qualifications!!

Do they sell that?? Haha. I did wear my lucky trial shirt to the last interview, but apparently it's only effective for its limited purpose of winning trials.

  • A great pair of shoes. Sounds stupid, but in my HR class in college, they did talk about how differently confidant women dress, and one lady said that she would always look at peoples' shoes...even men...

  • I'll be crossing my fingers for you!  I agree that you should dress confidently both for your interviewers and for yourself.  I typically dress up when I'm giving a talk or interview because it makes me feel more professional and confident.

Lucky for me I wear a suit nearly every day (and nice shoes, Danie!) so I feel comfortable and confident in "interview attire." I remember interviewing during law school when I'd worn a suit like 2 times in my life and I felt sooooo weird and uncomfortable!

  • GOOD LUCK!!!!

I don't have any specific questions to help you with, but before I go for an interview, I come up with lots of concrete examples and situations that will fit many different questions.  Keep those in your back pocket for a question like:  "What did you do when faced with ____?"  or "Tell me about a time....."
