Poll: Your favorite poison?
I'm counting down the hours until I go to happy hour with some coworkers/girlfriends. Only 2.5 hours left! We're going to Gordon Biersch, but I'm not in the mood for a beer, so I'll probably get wine.
So what's your poison? Favorite happy hour cocktail? Favorite place to go for happy hour?

Well, I was going to say ricin until I read the post...
I like drinking seasonally (sangria or caipirinhas in the summer) but my tried and true go-to is always red wine or rum and diet. I'll also take a nice sidecar. If it's a good bar, I'll choose something interesting off the cocktail menu or ask the bartender to mix up whatever.
Place to go is tough since I'm in Rockville. In Baltimore, I could never say no to Brewer's Art.

If I want good beer, i'm either going to Brewer's Art, Abby's Burger Bistro or Victoria's Gastropub. When we're out, unless we're watching games at a bar or something and ordering pitchers, I like to have good beer.
In general though I prefer wine. H said once that I prefer reds over champagne and champagne over whites, which I never thought about but I guess is true. I pph red wine. White wine just isn't as interesting to me. I did just have Cupcake wine (I can't remember which it was - but it was white) and that was very good imo.
I rarely drink cocktails or mixed drinks and when I do they better be girly LOL. liquor gives me a headache but I also can't gauge myself on it so I tend to stay away.
well (when not pg, obvs) I enjoy a nice glass of merlot. sometimes a good beer too, like Newcastle.
back in the day when we would go out to clubs I would always get Malibu & diet.
way back when I first started drinking I would drink Southern Comfort. I was the only person I knew who liked it (I drank it straight). It would make me so sick now.
If I'm going out to happy hour, I tend to drink craft beers mainly. Sometimes I'll opt for mixed drinks and if that's the case I usually go for Captain and diet, Jack and Ginger or a Gin and Tonic.
If I'm at home or at a friend's place, that's a different story...then it's usually craft beer, red wine, something with Captain or or a Manhattan, straight up. The last one's odd, I know. But I have a friend that loves them and that's really all he makes so I've learned to go with the flow. I remember my Nana drinking them when I was little and I used to always get to eat the cherry out of the bottom of the glass. So it's kind of a nostalgic drink for me too.
Usually I like fruity wines or sangria. Yum!
I use to love malibu bay breeze.
I definitely have winter and summer faves. I don't like anything too heavy or sweet in the summer.
I don't discriminate! I like beer, wine (both red and white) & cocktails- what I order/drink depends on where I am and what I am eating.
I like wheat-y beers like hefewiezen, etc. w/ a slice of lemon or orange in the summer, Corona will do too. For wine, I am loving Vino Verde this summer, it's a crisp white wine w/ a little bit of effervescence. One is called Gateau and it's so yummy, Trader Joe's in VA sells one as well for like $3 a bottle that is pretty decent. I saw on Chelsea lately that you can add cut up peaches and sugar to make a little cocktail and I need to try that. I like sangria as well- red & white, red is nice if enjoying some grilled steaks or something like that.
I like clear liquor in the summer, gin & tonics are a natural mosquito repellent! Drink them and the next day the bugs won't bite you! Margaritas, mojitos and caipirinhas are quite tasty in the summer.
I usually opt for a Blue Moon if it's on draft. Also like any of the Sam Adam beers. When in a work, networking setting I usually opt for white wine - Sauvignon Blanc is my favorite. I found one that I absolutely love from Corridor Wine & Spirits in Laurel. My ultimate favorite that I had at a french restaurant in Chicago is not distributed in Maryland.
This summer, Skinny Girl Margaritas have been my go-to when sitting on the pier or patio chatting with friends. When out my cocktail of choice is an Orange Crush or Cranberry Vodka.
