Project Runway Episode 2 Talk (spoilers!)

Josh, Josh, Josh...come on.  You KNOW the judges don't like it when you use FABRIC in these unconventional material challenges.  Don't get me started on Bert.  If he hadn't had immunity, his tail would be out!

I agree with Heidi that Anthony Ryan's was the best.  Oliver's was not bad, but I liked AR's so much better (especially how he used the sunflower seeds around the neck).

Ok, I have to put this out there--While Oliver does have an interesting accent, he moved to London when he was 16 ....the boy is only 22 (and he moved somewhere else after that before landing in NY)--yet he has such a strong accent?  He was born in Ohio and lived in San Fran during the formative language years.  Then in Thailand (and they don't have Brittish accents there).  I am not a fan of the "Madonna's" of the world who intentionally change their accents to sound more European.  Just sayin...it bugs me.

And while I'm judging---Heidi's flame red lips bothered me with that purple dress--and I normally don't notice lip stick.

So, do you agree with the judges?

I happened to catch it last night for the first time this season (and I completely missed last season) so I don't know any of the contestants yet, but I totally agree with the lipstick comment!  It was really bugging me.  And her hair needed to be looser.  With that fitted, structured dress the harshly pulled back hair was just too much.  Fashion styling fail, Heidi.  You're out!

I liked the bird seed dress best but was surprised that no one commented how the raw edges showed and there were even parts of the skirt where the seeds had fallen off and you could see the fabric underneath.

I disagree with who they sent home.  I know Josh didn't totally live up to the challenge, but c'mon the blue "wee-wee pad" outfit was waaaaaaay worse.

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • I agree that the "wee-wee" pad dress was AWFUL, but I think he got "points" because he at least attempted to use an unconventional material.  Josh only used fabric and he was also in the bottom last week.

Is his accent forced? It seems like he speaks a little slower to make sure he gets his accent just right. :P

Also, he looks like he's ill. His hair color and skin tone don't make him look healthy.

  • I agree with you on Olliver.  When I first heard him talk, I thought - "where the heck is he from?"  Then he said that he was from OH?  Huh?

Anyway, I thought it was funny that he used the dogbed and no one said anything about that, but the very next person got slammed for using something fabric(ish).

I hated the blue wee wee pad dress, and thought he should have gone home.

The other wee wee pad dress, I thought was great.

Oh, and Oliver's dress totally made the model look super hippy, and not in the groovy hippy kind of way. Even my 16 yr old son thought the bottom of the dress looked weird.

There are too many people for me to remember everyone's names at this point.  But, I was very disappointed in Bert.  He USED fabric, and his design was horrible.  If he used other materials and it sucked, I would kinda understand.  But, he basically used fabric - how can your design be so bad?

I kinda liked the fish bowl plant dress though. lol

  • I totally thought that the birdseed dress was better than Oliver's. I was also surprised that they gave Oliver no guff about the fabric use and the poor fit. Not to mention that they gave the fish bowl dress girl such a hard time. I thought it was better than the snake pit dress that got third place but I guess I'm just not high fashion minded. I mean seriously, I was having an 80's flashback watching his florescent rock top come down the runway with the see through skirt.

Oh and Oliver's accent; I can't figure that one out either. He mentioned that he has traveled a lot and lived all over.  To me it just sounds more like he has a hard time with the English language than any real identifiable accent. It seems kind of like a crossbreed of language that comes out very unnaturally. I'm sort of glad he doesn't say much cause it is a bit annoying.

  • The birdseed dress should have won.   I do not understand why his proportion was wrong, but the winning dress (with the skirt the same length, the bunchy thick top that didn't fit and the weird hip thing going on) was fabulous.

The fabric showing and seeds falling off didn't bother me, but there is no way he would have gotten the seeds on if his skirt had been any longer.  His model should have offered to help glue.  I'm glad that Heidi told him that he was her first pick.

I also liked the fish plant dress.  The texture was interesting.  There were several that I liked.  I liked the scratch pad skirt, and I liked her first skirt with the e-collars.  I wish she had made some booty shorts or something to lengthen it, so that it could be worn.

yeah I would have been intrigued to see what would have happened.  And the Hamster bedding on Olivier's model's eyebrows made her look like a caveman.

  • I agree about Olivier's accent. As soon as he started talking it reminded me of an episode of that show where the hairstylists switch salons. I saw a guy on there once who was pretending to be British. I think he's picked up little things from each place he's lived that he thinks are cool, and he's incorporated them into the way he talks. It's definitely a weird accent, that's for sure!

Am I the only one who kind of liked Fallene's dress? I look really good in orange, so maybe that's why, but I would wear that dress (if it wasn't made of plastic, that is).

Anthony Ryan should have won, hands down. His design was so creative and meticulous. I was amazed at the detail with the sunflower seeds around the neckline. Something about Olivier's top reminded me of something I could have bought at Kohl's in the 1990's.

Bert's: HORRIBLE. I was so disappointed.

Josh M: HORRIBLE - I can't believe he was in the top 3. That outfit was straight out of the 80's. The shoes reminded me of when we used to have "tacky day" in elementary school. There was always one kid who took it a little too far. Also, I just plain don't like him. He irritates me. Ever since Christian Siriano, there's always one guy every season who wants to be the most theatrical, the funniest, the most "out there" and apparently Josh M is that guy this time. Sorry guy, there's only one Christian, although Josh did say my favorite line of the episode: "If that's outside the box, PUT ME BACK IN!"

I liked Anja's, and I'm still raising an eyebrow about the non-sewing thing. Time will tell, but if she's telling the truth, then she has a huge amount of natural talent.

I liked Becky's, although I know it was too many colors and not really that modern. It just made for an interesting dress.

The blue wee wee pad dress: OUCH. The skirt looked like a photography prop - like those giant floor-length tutus you can buy on etsy. I was not a fan.

She's crafty - and she's just my type.
  • I loved Anya's dress and I loved the pink "wee-wee" pad dress.

I wasn't as impressed with the bird seed dress as everyone else.  I guess I just don't see how making a dress out of muslin and then hot glueing things to it is any better then making a dress out of umbrella fabric.

I agree with pps about Heidi's makeup.  I thought it was funny because she made a comment that she wanted to wash one of the model's faces and I was like I want to wash your face!
