Decor - blue table cloths, white servingware, white balloons, "diamonds" and pearls on the tables, Hepburn quotes on tiffany cards on the table
food - muffins, danish, scones, doughnuts, cinnamon rolls, fruit salad
favors - cookies that look like tiffany boxes
any other ideas? games? decorations?
Re: Breakfast at Tiffany's Shower
Is this taking place at work? I think the decor will be nice. Honestly though I think the food is lacking. It's all bread and fruit. Maybe if it was a short thing and everyone goes back to work it would be okay, but it still seems you could do something more substantial.
As for games, if it's at work I probably wouldn't do any. If it's all work people I'd still be aware to do things that won't embarass people- ie nothing about sex.
Thanks - yes it is at work, and then everyone would go back to work, that is why I was shooting for simple on the food ie things I dont have to cook or heat. I am open to suggestions though, but hot food would be really hard.....
Maybe a quiche? I have a toaster oven and microwave to work with...
Okay- I'd ditch the doughnuts and danish. Then I'd premake some fruit, yogurt and granola parfaits. I'd do savory scones instead of sweet- ham and cheddar comes to mind. I'd also consider swapping the muffins for bagels. You could get a couple kinds of cream cheese and even add some smoked salmon.
Other thoughts that aren't very fancy but are hearty (especially if this is later in the year or there will be guys) a crock pot of sausage gravy with biscuits. I've never done it, but I have also seen recipes for crockpot eggs. I'd try that one first.
Food: I'm a teacher, and once a month we have a breakfast in the faculty room. I usually bring the CI Breakfast Casserole. I make it the night before and bake it off in the morning. I have the pyrex 9x13 pan with the carrying case. It's easy to transport in that carrying case. I bet other people would be willing to bring a casserole or quiche. These don't have to be served hot, and if you have a microwave at work, people can always choose to heat it up.
PP mentioned smoked salmon and bagels! Perfect idea! When I think NY I think bagels and loxs.
I also agree with eliminating at least one of the sweet pastries. At our school, we always had doughnuts or danish left over. People tend to go more towards the fruit and bagels.
I like the idea of a yogurt parfait, but I would do a "make your own parfait" station. Keep it simple, a bowl of mixed berries, a bowl of granola and a bowl of plain or vanilla yogurt. (This way the granola does not get soggy.)
One thing that I never really understood at breakfast, but people at my school love, is a small cheese plate with some plain crackers.
Can you make a ginger-ale based punch to serve in champagne flutes? (Even plastic ones would be festive for a Breakfast at Tiffany's theme.
Have fun!

Thanks everyone for the ideas! I am going to cut back on a few pastries and add a yogurt parfait "bar" and I am leaning towards deviled eggs (quiche logistics are shaky).
I am also vey excited I found extra long strands of pearls for everyone (aka, extra long white mardi gras beads).
(we do bagels for bdays here at work, and have k-cups w several flavors so I will save those ideas for a non-work related party).
Thanks again
