wtfffffffff

So I was checking my online bank account, and there were 4 unauthorized transactions from "Amazon EU"- all for the same amount. I checked my email, and there were emails in German saying I had bought Amazon gift certificates. I freaked, called Amazon but they couldn't find any such transaction. So it seems there is someone with my credit card number hiding behind the guise of Amazon and Navy Federal is closed for the night.

I am freaking oooout over the possibility that I might have a keylogger.

Re: wtfffffffff

  • WTF is right! There should be a number on the back of your card (or you should be able to find it online) for a lost or stolen card. It should be 24 hours. Report it to fraud and cancel that card ASAP!

    Good luck!

  • I'm sure you know better already, but just reminding you since you're freaking out. Use a different computer to change all your passwords. And use a different password for each thing when you do change them.

  • One other thing, did you call Amazon US? Did they say whether they can track orders made on the EU site? Is there any other information in the authorization, such as a phone number or anything that will help you to verify whether it's actually an Amazon transaction?

I called the Amazon customer service line, I didn't know if the US and EU companies were linked. I mentioned that the purchase appeared to be from the European site and the lady didn't say that made any difference. Maybe I should call the international service line just to make sure? The faux confirmation email I received does not look like the legit emails from Amazon I get, which leads me to think it's a scammer pretending to be them.

I called the Navy Federal number again (I guess I pushed a wrong number before), was able to talk to someone and got my card canceled- but I can't dispute the charges until they post, which will be Monday at the earliest.

Now I'm running a full scan of my computer to check for any keyloggers/malware.

I'm disgusted people resort to hacking and stealing for money. Get a real job, fuuuckers.
