Sleep...."noises"

I was going to call this sleep talking but it wasn't really talking that inspired it. I got up in the middle of the night to pee (as I do a lot these days, sigh!) and DH was humming a song in his sleep! I've never heard him or anyone else do this before. It was definitely a song--not sure which one but he hummed the same tune twice in a row. It was weird. Do you/your DH/ whoever you sleep near often sleep talk (or hum), or sleepwalk, or do anything else weird while sleeping? (my sister sleep eats, but that's another story entirely!)

Re: Sleep...."noises"

  • I'll cop to DH and I both sleep mumbling about once a month or so. Seperately, not together. No singing or humming, though.

  • Snoring and snorting.
I like pineapples...they make life just so much more interesting.
  • I talk in my sleep occasionally, DH snorts randomly and snores once in awhile.

  • FH is funny. He randomly "talks" in his sleep. By talk I mean one night he shot straight up opened his eye and yelled "OH NO!!! He took his flip flops off!" Then laid right back down.

I died from being woken up with a startle and laughed my arse off when he had no idea what he did.

He has a few other funny ones.

  • DH sits up and yells. It's scary. Usually only when his routine is upset, like if we're sleeping in a new place (hotel or someone else's house). It's always frantic and terrified sounding, like "No! No! No! No!"

At first I used to comfort him but he says it's better not to wake him up. Just let it happen and he'll go back to sleep.

  • He will get erm frisky in his sleep and have zero recollection of it in the morning. It doesn't happen all the time, but it's really funny when he realizes what happened.

  • I sleepwalk (I've woken up in other rooms of the house, lol!), and also do random things in my sleep that I have no recollection of later, like I've changed my PJs and rearranged my bedside table. It's a little disturbing to wake up in another bed or in different PJs!

My DH snores (REALLY loudly), and also does several obnoxious things like punching and kicking me. He steals covers and hogs the bed, but I do that too. He also sometimes steals my pillow out from under my head while I'm sleeping. When I try to take it back from him, he gives me an evil look. Once he even told me (in his sleep), to get my own pillow! I was like WTF, that IS my pillow, you !!#()"#/%)?!!!!!! He never remembers any of this afterwards.

you can have entire conversations with my sister in her sleep. Then later, you reference something, and she's like what? doesn't remember a thing.

Get your own pillow! LOL!!! My sister (same one that sleep eats) has been known to have conversations while sleeping too. And once in middle school she thought the bathroom scale was the toilet and peed on it in her sleep.
  • I talk in my sleep, and apparently it's very clear and understandable.  My best friend does this as well, and once we were vacation in Florida with my parents (we were all sharing a room, so I was sharing a bed with the best friend), and the next day my mom was giving us crap because we were "up all night talking."  Umm...nope, sorry Mom...that was just us talking to each other in our sleep.  No joke...super weird.

  • I talk in my sleep as well. This is why I'm marrying a non-native speaker of English ;)

He has sung/hummed in his sleep before. He's a music teacher/musician so it does kind of make sense.

I used to sleepwalk big time. When I was a kid I apparently did it all the time. I once turned on every light in the house.

  • Neither of us talks or hums or anything but DH sometimes snores a bit but only if he has been drinking. I will say that he does listen very well if I tell him to move over or move his leg or something. He does it immediately! I should try telling him to go clean the bathroom or something and see if he does it!

Do it tonight and report back with the results ;)
  • I don't talk but I am a huge tooth grinder ( I grind and clack my teeth together).  I used to wake my family up on vacation when we shared a room.  It's not so bad now that I wear a mouthguard but STBXH said he used to wake up sometimes because I was chomping on it so hard!

  • I occasionally sleep talk and DH does it quite often.  He also sometimes jumps out of bed and turns the light on because of a dream.  Once he was running towards to front door to catch whoever it was he was chasing in his dream.  He also tried to save me from a giant stick that was going to attack me in bed.
