I saw your reply in the post below. His spinal tap came back normal so they diagnosed him with neurogenic syncope. I guess he will be on blood pressure med and be monitored by a cardiologist. I'm not sure anyone will be completely convince that this is what he has until he starts getting better, but it's a start.

Have they tested (did you say you mom...I need to reread the post) for this?

Re: *Mrs U*

  • thanks kare!  no, my mom hasn't had a spinal tap, but i know they've done boo-coo tests on her & can't figure it out.... She has high bl pressure, hence the meds, and also has diabetes, where her sugar levels drop, spike, etc.

not sure if that has anything to do with it.  I'll ask her and see if they've mentioned anything or tested for neurological sycope.

That's the way we feel too, not convinced that they "just can't figure it out".  She shouldn't have to deal with that, you know.   sucks, all she can do is be careful and we have to watch her.  Altho, the 2nd time she passed out & rebroke her ankle she was in a "mom tizzy" (stressed out about something my bro did) so, not sure if that  stress only added to the problem.

Keep me posted if they come to any conclusion.  But, glad they are starting to rule things out for him.

  • I think the main test that brought them to this conclusion was the flip upside down one. They strap you to something and flip you over - he passed out immediately.

Hope you guys get some answers soon!
