need a sewing machine to take sewing classes?

Hello,

I've been lurking on this board for a bit.  I'm pregnant and finding so many adorable things I want to sew and want to get a sewing machine, but my only experience with sewing was in middle school home ec class and I think I found it frustrating.  I've been looking at sewing machines and debating how much I should spend on one when I thought maybe I could take classes without buying a machine to see if I like it before I purchase a machine.  I found classes at Joann's and they don't say rather you need to have a machine or not so I wondered if you need one or they provide them?  My fiance doesn't think I need another hobby but said he would buy me one when I finished crocheting the blanket I started right before I got pregnant (since I've been pregnant and it's summer here I haven't wanted to work on it), but I don't want to buy one and not enjoy it.

I'm sure they'll have a loaner machine for use in the class- I'd just mention it when you sign up. Have fun!

They better have loaner machines. I'm going to take their classes soon (I can follow a tutorial but have absolutely NO idea how to read a pattern). There' no way I'd be dragging my beast of a machine up there, it freaking huge. Best of luck.

I took one sewing class at Joann's and they have the machines there for each student. You can bring your own if you would like but they had them there.

I've been wondering this too, I have a machine but don't want to lug it there. I know when I have went to JoAnns they have machines I would guess they are for student use.
