House Update (good news inside!)

The appraisal came back a whole $2k higher... which is pretty pathetic. Well, the sellers agreed to drop the price $12k, so we only need to make up $6k cash. It's coming out of our downpayment, and they're no longer paying any closing costs so that's even more cash we weren't planning on spending, but we're making it work and we're getting the house! We're going to have a smaller down payment, but because of the price drop, even with the smaller down payment, our mortgage payments are lower. 

So all good things!

We're all set to close on August 26th. And I can't wait to get out of this apartment

It should be but I'm still nervous! I dropped off the notice today, but I'm just still a little scared that we might end up homeless. There's nothing else that can get in our way at this point, it's just showing up to settlement... but I'm still nervous that our 30 days notice in the apartment will be up and something will happen with the house and we'll be looking for a place to live. 

I know that's silly, but I feel like 30 day's notice is a lot to give when you still have to pay 3 months to get out!!

That's the part that freaking blows.  I'm sure that if something does go wrong and you need a little extra time at the apartment, you could explain to the manager that you're buying a house, yada, yada, and they would let you stay. *crosses fingers that it won't happen though!*
