I remember a while back you saying that you used a personal trainer at your gym. How beneficial do you think it is to have one?? What kind of stuff do you guys, i.e does he do the cardio and then lift weights/shows you the right technique to use, etc?? I think the Y offers some personal trainer service and I just didn't know how good it was?
Re: Wendy
Oh girl I highly recommend it! I go to the UAB Rec Center and this is the same trainer that James worked with to help him get in shape for the Army. I've only been working with him for 2 months now and I can already tell I'm getting stronger and he is helping me with my endurance.
Basically what our routine is we rotate doing cardio one day and weights the next, and he'll also throw some core excercises in there. When we're working with the weights he'll demonstrate the technique before I start my set..that way I know exactly how I'm doing it and if I get out of form in the middle he'll correct me.
So yes, you should go for it. I really haven't lost alot of weight because my diet isn't where it should be, and he is working with me on that right now. He made me keep a food journal all weekend and today he's going to look at it and tell me what to cut out. So if you get a trainer that'll help you with all aspects of weight loss then I think it's worth it.
