Oh my goodness I need to vent! So DH and I bought the house my in-laws used to live in. They did the mail forwarding paperwork wrong, and so now DH and I are not getting all of our mail. Things are going back to sender, or getting forwarded to my FIL's PO Box instead. What a disaster!!! I didn't get a few thank-you cards and invites from friends, DH didn't get a Macy's bill and so they called to say it was overdue, and our property tax bill didn't come, so I have to go get it in person. This is serious stuff, and SO aggravating, because now I don't know what I'm NOT getting and I have to think of everything. I also have to call my banks, credit card co's, etc to verify that they have my correct address. Why oh why, in laws, do you have to make everything hard???????
Ok I feel better now that I got it out! Thanks for listening!
What's bugging you today?
Re: WTF...Tuesday?
Holy cow that is aggravating! My SIL did the same thing when bro+family moved out of my grandma's in transition to their current house, and my poor 90 yr old grandma had half her mail arrive at their new place. My grandma was really bent out of shape about it because of what you're going thru- missing lots of important mail due to someone else's lack of paying attention to the form.
I really don't want to be here all day for this stupid picnic.
On an exciting note, I'm making Amanda's Baja Fish Tacos for dinner tonight!
April 2010 Siggy Challenge: Next Vacation Destination
Reason #2 of 8472264 why I hate moving: I'm always concerned about my mail catching up. To actually know that it's not making it to the right place would drive me insane. Hopefully it'll get straightened out soon.
WTF, people need to calm the eff down about Muslims. Our county is having a board of supervisor's meeting tonight about a potential rezoning for a new Mosque and it's supposed to be a loooong meeting because people are going to freak out about it. It's high time we all learned that some radicals took a religious name and attached their own agenda to it. It doesn't mean that all Muslims are terrorists. Did Christians not start the Crusades in the name of religion and people don't assume all Christians these days are going to take over and kill everyone who won't convert.
Well, if you watch any Bill Maher or MSNBC, you would assume that is what they think! Haha!
I understand your frustrations with it, though. I think the reason the NYC Ground Zero one got to be such a big deal was because who was behind the initial funding (a man that had stated that he agrees with Sharia Law which I think all women of the world could be offended by that). However, other than that exact situation, I think it is so stupid the way people treat others in this country. Same way I think it is TOTALLY insane the way people are trying to get Christianity out of everything. It is freedom OF religion, not freedom from. I am never offended by what someone else wants to believe in as long as they are not hurting themselves or anyone else by doing so. I think this country gets offended WAY too easily these days to the point we are only taking our freedoms away from ourselves!
Haha, good point about Bill Maher.
I do think people are too easily offended, I also think people don't realize that religious freedom means everyone is free to choose to practice whatever religion they choose. We have numerous churches of all denominations in the county as well as a Hindu center, a Buddhist temple, and Jewish synagogues. Why are the Muslims the only ones who aren't allowed to have a place to gather and worship together? Isn't it clearly stated in the constitution that they are allowed to do that? The whole thing just makes me sick because it's discrimination and it's disgusting.
Get with the times, Liz, no one cares what the Constitution says anymore - hence people's strong opinions about Casey Anthony, drug testing for welfare, etc. Constitution = irrelevant if the right that should be protected is in conflict with what people think is correct.
END VENT!
Allie that suuucckkkks about your mail! I would be so mad. Hopefully Macys and whoever else will be cool about waiving any late fees since it's totally not your fault.
Allison! That totally sucks! What an annoyance! Hope you guys get everything straightened out soon
Ditto the vents about people being overly offensive or defensive of religion. It's a waste of time and money to pick these fights. One of my favorite quotes is: "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." --MLK Jr.
My WTF: Why is the news basically ignoring the famine crisis in the Horn of Africa?!?!? There are millions of children needlessly starving to death, and I feel like we as a country/world are not giving our all to save them! I mean, if we could raise just a fraction of what we raised for Japan during their crisis, we could be saving millions of lives!

This. Actually a longtime rant of mine. There are no wars being waged to "free" or help these children - many of whom are essentially being deliberately starved to death by their local war lords. Sometime the sadness of the situation is just too much to imagine. And not to mention our own homeless, hungry little people here in the US where there is no famine. Sigh...
Yes! I saw some things on online news sources last week, but I haven't seen much since. Apparently riots in London are more important than children starving to death
@Allison: That totally blows!! USPS is probably partially to blame as well and I hate them with a passion! Hopefully it gets straightened out soon.
Ditto about the crisis in Africa. I watch ABC news and David Muir was over there recently and I think was the only network to be reporting on it. Hopefully more news agencies pick up on it and something is done.
WTF: Water tastes gross today
I'm down to drinking soda (Sprite) and it's way too sugary for me!

My DH keeps telling me to shrug this off because of the source. But it was bugging me all day.
My belligerent SIL (whom I get along great with in person but she never ceases to amaze me with rude and tacky comments online towards everybody) appalled the hell out of me yesterday. I sent an e mail out about SD's birthday party, giving everyone the day, time and menu (burgers, dogs, pasta salad, chips, dip, cake and ice cream, pop and BYOB).
Rather than "yes I'll be there," or "I can't make it," which are appropriate responses, her response was "what about potato salad, beans, cole slaw and more desserts?"
Are you effing kidding me???
If I wasn't trained to keep my mouth shut when it comes to my ILs I'd have told her that I am NOT a caterer, this party is about SD and her birthday and not to cater a 20 course meal to 50 people. If someone wants potato salad that bad they can effing bring it. And WTF do we need more desserts for??? It's never enough in that family. My ILs tend to make kids' birthday parties about themselves, to get a free dinner and booze it up. Now I see every family is different; but our parties growing up were strictly cake, ice cream and just our kid friends. We didn't provide big dinners to the whole extended family so they should be thankful they have us cooking for them at all!!!! I was more appalled at the rude and tacky comment than anything else. DH said "what do you expect, it's her. Don't let it bother you. She's miserable. Everyone else laughs her off and ignores her." I know it's how she is....but it still jars me.
Frankly SD couldn't care less what we have for dinner as long as she gets her gifts and her cake!!!! As most kids do!
