CL ?/vent

I have been posting and selling on CL for the last 3-4 years with quite a bit of success. Lately (like last 6 months) no one has responded to my posts. My sister tried to sell her nearly new couches and had the same problem. Is it working for any of you?

I haven't really bought or sold much of anything from CL ever... so I'm not much help there. I can tell you, though, that I created an "Online Garage Sale" and get a ton of traffic through there. I have had great luck selling lots of random stuff and have also made several purchases through other similar sites. I frequently browse the T2T board on here and am always closet shopping when other girls list their goodies. Maybe that would be worth a shot?? It only took me about 15 minutes to set everything up through Weebly and the hosting is free.

I sold a dresser and chandelier a few months ago.  I had 8,000 emails about the dresser, but I was getting ready to list the chandelier on the free section because I wasn't getting any offers.  Thankfully someone eventually bought it full price!

funny you mention this- i don't buy much on there but last week saw 2 chairs we liked (different sellers). i emailed and got no response from either. meantime the ads have been repeated (so must still be available).

i just assumed my emails didn't go through and forgot it.

Actually, come to think of it... I have shopped a bit on CL over the past few weeks (was looking for a storage bench type of thing) and even more about 6 months ago (looking for furniture when we first moved into our new house)... and I would say that 90% of them never responded to my email. Perhaps if you are listing items, include in the listing a real email to send replies to... maybe create another email to be used only for things like that and have all responses sent there. Something just doesn't seem to go right when you click the respond to 5242nxnxhshgsui... blah blah blah at the top. It's like the email disappears into no man's land.

Most likely they got so many emails that they stopped returning them.  I tried to email everyone back who inquired, but I think I forgot a few.  I have never had a problem with my emails not going through on CL.  I have used it a lot, including stuff for jobs.

I have been trying to sell baby stuff and it has been so slowwww going.  Like I have to lower the price and repost.  I think it might be an economy thing.  And people have been flakier than ever, lots of no-shows and people who postpone for months and months, one girl said she had to wait for payday for a little toy I had, and then once she got paid she said she couldn't afford it.  I remember I used to get so many e-mails as soon as I posted something, but now I sit and wait.
