I need dairy free snack ideas, please.
So, we think James has a sensitivity to dairy. But I am really struggling to come up with snack ideas for myself that contain protein. I am not a huge meat eater, so most of my protien came from dairy. Any ideas out there? I feel like I am living on nuts.
Thanks.
Re: I need dairy free snack ideas, please.
You can get protein from whole wheat sources - quinoa, bread, oatmeal, rice, etc. If you are having this as a snack, you could always do toast w/jam (or whatever else) or make a quinoa or whole wheat pasta salad.
You can also get protein from legumes - hummus (garbanzo beans) would make an excellent snack w/veggies. You could make a white bean dip to or make a bean salad. Edamame is a pretty easy snack too.
There are various veggies that are decent sources of protein - potatoes, brocolli and spinach for example.
You can mix it up and do nut butters too, in addition to just plan nuts. I love carrots or celery w/PB or toast w/a nut butter.
Oh do I feel your pain...I was in the same boat for the first 6 months of Ben's life and it was SO hard! I learned to tolerate hummus and ate that often. I also ate granola bars, trail mix, and lots of veggies and crackers.
The good news is he outgrew it around 6 months. hope your DS does too!
Oh, I believe this blogger is Vegan - here is her assortment of snack recipes:
