How long does your "normal" dishwasher cycle take?

Mine has been running for 3.5 hours.  This can't be average.  I swear my old dishwasher used to finish in maybe an hour.  This is on "normal wash" mode.  On "economy wash" it still takes probably 2 hours.  And it is still rinsing right now, not just drying.

Re: How long does your "normal" dishwasher cycle take?

  • Yeah, that doesn't seem right.  I recall feeling that way at our old place, but I don't remember how, and if, it got fixed.  Maybe try googling the model and see if you can confirm the normal wash time.

I would be concerned about wasted water and electricity if something is wrong.

  • Mine runs that long.  It is a kitchenaid.  I have a button on there for a 1 hr quick wash, but the regular wash is super long.
  • We reno-ed our kitchen 1.5 years ago with all new appliances. Our wash & sanitize is close to 4 hours. Normal wash is 3hr, eco wash is 2hr, quick rinse 1hr. It takes forever.
  • Thanks for the feedback.  Mine is a Thermador which I guess is "high end".  I usually just run the economy wash but we had a ton of stuff in there and my H loaded it (which means less pre-rinsing) so I wanted to make sure it all came out clean.  I think it stopped around 4 hours.
  • This house is the first time that both DH and I ever really used a dishwasher and we were surprised at how long it takes to run.  It generally takes more than two hours on a regular cycle I think, but it's been a while since I paid attention.
I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

  • I've never timed mine... I tend to run it when I go to bed!
  • We have a new Bosch that we got when we renovated our kitchen a couple months ago.  Normal "auto" wash is 140 minutes (according to the digital display) but sometimes it seems like it does take longer than that
