Fizzle
The place is pretty (not in love with the lighting) but NOISY. The cocktails are interesting but too healthy sounding. The wine list is good but the servers don't know it very well at all, even by now. The service is lacking. The owner walks around the dining room looking at everything, but seeing nothing. He seemed more interested in the hostess than anything else. The food is okay, nothing special.
The fava bean dip with crostini as a free starter was really good. But for a table of two, bring two crostini or four, not three!
I had dandelion greens salad with anchovy garlic dressing (how an a-g dressing can have no salt and no taste, I don't know) with a sunny-side up chicken egg on it. Quite flavorless other than the bitter greens and the salt I added.
Then the avocado crabcakes which had way too much sweet chili sauce on them to taste the delicate crab and avocado.
Friend had the artichoke/pea/romano cheese salad - very good from her review.
And the mushroom cake, which was dry dry dry. The carrot "cake" that came with it was tasty.
Meh.
We got charged for the wrong three glasses of wine, even after being brought the wrong thing and explaining that it wasn't what we had asked for and getting the right stuff. Our check never caught up and then our server disappeared after dropping it so we just paid it. If she cared enough to change it her tip would have gone up $1.50 (the difference in the higher priced wine we got charged for but didn't order).
