Looking to network (Melbourne, Fl)
I have a Bachelor's degree in Physical Education. I am looking to teach, merchandise (applied at P&G) or anything part time with daytime hours.
Re: Looking to network (Melbourne, Fl)
Hi, I know you from MM.
Know that this is an extremely hard area to get a job. I started looking in 2009 and never found one, especially if you are a professional with an advanced degree or a trailing spouse, as many of us seem to be, Teaching market is tight-Brevard County is still not accepting substitutes. They did accept me as a volunteer two years ago, so you might look into that.
The school year has already started, but you never know what could open up!
Are you new to the area? What brings you here?
Hey-I grew up in Satellite Beach, but lived in Orlando for college (UCF) and then DH and I moved back here in 2007. It has been HARD. He got a teaching job after 6 months of interviews in 2007. I work in Parks and Recreation in Viera (not even through the county-I was hired through a staffing agency). I know, I know...at least I have a job, but it is nights (mostly) and DH is a teacher, so he obviously works days. Just wanted to netowrk the area and see if anything happens on the board. What do you do?
I look all the time on the county board. I used to email me resume out to nearly every school in the South/Central Area and 90% of the principals didn't even email me back.
Amen, girl! Over 600 resumes sent out, 3 interviews, 0 jobs. I work nights and weekends as well, so I'd love to have a friend in the area. I own a small business and I actually want to start a girls' group, just for fun, like "women of Brevard" or something.
Hey! I have a small business as well. Wanna start a small business group for women?
Have you tried meetup.com? I am in a women's night out group (just joined and haven't gone to anything yet:) )
PM me if you want to! What business are you in?
