Pantyhose are making a comeback.

See here. Darn you, Kate Middleton. Does anyone actually enjoy wearing pantyhose?

Re: Pantyhose are making a comeback.

  • I read or watched something, can't remember now, that the reason Kate wears hose is because it is a royal dress code or something.

I'm on team Pippa...no hose for me! =)

  • Eh I'm kinda old fashioned that way and had to wear hose for sorority meetings and for my community service growing up, so it's kinda engrained to wear hose for me especially for work and more Professional environments. I also don't find them that uncomfortable. Guess I'm just weird

  • I just don't know how people stand them. The waist band always digs into my waist and I spend half the day pulling them out of my flesh.

  • No way, no how will I wear pantyhose.

This is me, too.  I didn't even know they were out of style until maybe last year (I guess that makes me "fashionably late?" Wink).  Until recently though I also didn't wear dresses very often, other than for formal occasions.

Hose still seem more polished to me, but I've started getting used to not wearing them.  I still often wear knee highs with my work shoes though.  They seem to keep my sweaty feet more comfortable and dry (I'm sure you all wanted to know that about me).

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

Ditto CarFar.  For my line of work (very professional conservative dress aka suits) it is a must.  Honestly, I don't mind wearing them.

  • I don't wear a lot of pantyhose, but I wear tights-I just cut the top of the band in the elastic (not all the way to the end of the seam though) in a few places to keep it from digging in all day.
  • No pantyhose for me, thanks. I do own a pair of opaque black tights that I wear with a particular outfit but generally when I'm in a dress or skirt, I'm bare-legged.

I always had to wear them for my jobs in high school and college (Big 5 and Dillards) and I learned early on that I far preferred thigh-highs b/c I hate the digging in waist band.

I'm pretty meh about the whole "trend" (or lack thereof).  I don't have a need to wear them presently (I have a jeans-everyday-is-okay job), so I don't, but I don't feel particularly judgey when other people wear them or anything.

  • I like tights, but have never liked pantyhose. Thank goodness I can wear jeans to work because I would hate to have to purchase pantyhose since they never seem to last more than one or two wears for me before they get a snag or run.

  • Yeah, it's definitely a generational thing. Our moms were always trying to make us wear them anytime we wore dresses. I really just associate them with church and job interviews. I still wear them for interviews (which totally sucks in summer) but not really anything else. Funerals would be the only other time. They feel old lady to me. I always have a pair on hand; black only since "nude" is not at all my skin tone and looks horrible on me. But I only wear them if I have to. I have never had to wear them for work.
  • Sometimes I do.  Embarrassed  Not in the summer of course, but I like pantyhose during spring and fall (especially spring) because I think my legs are ugly without them.  I wear tights in the winter.

  • I am anit-hose.  I have never liked them!  The only time I like to wear anything similar is when I wear patterned tights with high boots and a skirt.  Otherwise, bare legs for this girl.

  • I am not sure I see it catching on over here and if it does it probably won't be for as long.

During the fall and winter I tend to wear pantyhose/sheer tights (um, I think there's a difference but I can't remember right now). I couldn't imagine wearing them during the spring/summer which I think she does.

I agree. Pantyhose are much harder to keep from getting runs than tights, too. My mom actually wears either under her pants in winter to keep warm and because of the spider veins in her legs.
  • As soon as it was acceptable to doff the dumb things I did.  I don't even wear tights...though I am considering an addendum to that because I saw some purple ones the other day that I really liked.

We have spanx for our bellies and thighs now days...so who needs hose?  As a freckled person...hosiery always looked terrible on me...not to mention I am paler than "nude."

Yeah, if they're going to make a comeback, they'll have to provide a variety of shades of skin tone now. I was always appalled by how orange "nude" looked, too. It's an awful color I wouldn't wish to be anyone's skin tone.
  • Whenever I had to wear them, I wore thigh-highs - same effect for your legs, no uncomfortable waist band.

I much prefer tights...thick, warm, cushy tights.

also - I remember the same thing - she has to be WAY more conservative now that she's got the title. At least when she's out in an official capacity.

  • I don't really like them but sometimes I wear them to work if I think they make my outfit look more appropriate or better with my pale legs.

Yes, that's what I read too.

  • You know the quote from Steel Magnolias where Dolly says, "I haven't left the house without lycra on these thighs since I was 14." and someone replies with, "You were brought up right."

Well, that's me. I wear pantyhose to work every day and under dresses for dinners because I was raised that way. I really don't mind them. My biggest problem is I never seem to have a pair without runs in them when I need them.
