Hi all! I realized this morning that I just jumped in on the board and started posting without introducing myself.
I'm a diehard Alabama fan that married a member of the enemy. My husband and I met while we were in school at Alabama. He was in law school and had a paid assistantship. He often taught classes wearing an Auburn shirt... and somehow made it out alive. Our front door is adorned with a House Divided wreath and our office is covered with orange, blue, crimson and white. We've learned to respect the other's team and when to tease and when to shut up. Ha. We've also agreed no team colors on babies. They'll have to pick a team before they wear anything that isn't generic football.
We have two furbabies, Bailey and Jenna, who, until this year have dressed in crimson and white for every game. DH is trying to get Jenna in an Auburn jersey. NEVER. GONNA. HAPPEN.
We're both in finance. I work in investment management (but went to school for Biology) and DH is a CPA, specializing in international tax law.
I guess that's it! I would love to know who your favorite teams are and anything else you want to share!
Re: An intro
I'm a Husker and Colts fan (also the Giants to some degree). I mainly like football but I'll watch other sports (especially when the Huskers are playing). Our basement is decked out in Husker gear.
H and I both went to school at Nebraska and met there.
I also work in finance for a Fortune 500 company. H is an engineer.
TTC #1 since 08/11 IUI#2 = BFP!
Your husband sounds cool!
I'm Madelyn, and my husband and I are (obviously) Auburn fans. I'm originally from MN, he's from Iowa and we currently live in Auburn. I went to college in MN and in NC and I met him in NC. We moved to Auburn in 2008 when he was hired by the AU athletic department (he's a coach here). I work at AU in admissions.
I'm also a huge UNC fan and he's a big Iowa fan. I hate Iowa *almost* as much as I hate Alabama and Duke. He's also a Packers fan
College football is my favorite, followed by college baseball and then UNC basketball. I'll watch the NFL but I don't really have a team. Can't stand the NBA.
Welcome to the board!
TI, IUIs, IVF = c/ps and BFNs
I grew up outside of Winston Salem in Lewisville. I'm a huge UNC fan and hate Duke with a passion. I'm with you on the pro sports. My husband watches the NBA during playoffs. That's when I find something else to do. If I have to watch, I pull for players and anyone who's playing against Kobe.
Ahhh..common ground
Go Heels!
I really do miss being able to watch great (live) college basketball. We just don't have it down here like they do. Except for when UK comes to town I guess
Good thing we dominate all in football!!

Luckily Bama games showed in North Carolina almost every week we lived there. Of course, we won a championship during that time, so we were big news. I much prefer to be down here where football is king and there are always good games on. It doesn't hurt that our conference wins more often than not.
Welcome, Stoked! I'm (obviously) a big Gator fan, despite growing up in "enemy territory" (Georgia). I went to UF for law school where I met my husband. We're working on raising our own little Gator fan ATM.
Go SEC!
PS: Stoked and Madelyn, please be nice to me when both of your teams pummel us in October. LOL.
Thanks! Nice to pseudo-meet you! I wish I was going to be in the Swamp this year. We were talking about going but decided to stick to bigger games here.
What do y'all think about the talk of Texas A&M joining the big boys?
Welcome to the board! I'm a huge fan of the Packers and Tar Heels. I met my husband, who just so happens to be a Duke fan, while attending school in Greensboro.
I don't follow the NBA as much as I did in the 90s. IMO, it just seems that the players now are nothing but a bunch of divas. If I want to see a grown man act like a diva, I'll just tag along with a gay friend and see a drag queen performance.
(Although I do
Dwight Howard, lol. #pleasedontleaveorlando)
I do too. He's not a diva like LBJ and Kobe. He's a big, goofy kid. It seems like he's got a great personality and legitimately loves the game.
From the (selfish) viewpoint of a coach's wife, I'm not a fan. Ideally I'd love to get rid of Arkansas and UK (too far away) and add in Georgia Tech and FSU...less super long distance travel during the season for my husband!
Other than that, I just don't know...I guess it kind of seems like a weird add to me but I suppose all new teams would likely seem weird at first.

Dwight is one of the few players I do like and respect.
The big boys? Oh dear...
TTC #1 since 08/11 IUI#2 = BFP!
LMAO. Srsly?
Bahaha. I have a superiority complex. Topping off last year with another championship won by an SEC made it worse.
Hello, I pop in on occasion but I'm more of a regular on the BNOTB board.
Diehard Longhorn for life, if you can't tell. I support the Houston pro teams, though it's been rough being a Rockets, Astros, and Texans fan. At least the Dynamo are somewhat good most of the time.
I consider the Big 12 the "big boys" and although we are a little damaged, we can still put up a fight! I'm anxious to see if my horns can bounce back after last year's crushing season, and I'm sure it's just a matter of time before Expandomania happens and it moves to the Super Conferences. I just hope it doesn't happen soon, things are already shaking up too quickly for my taste, even though I'm not resistant to change.
Also, I travel to one new city/game a year to check out college games all over the country. It's part of another online group that I joined, and I've had a lot of fun so far seeing a bunch of different teams and getting enthralled in the pagaentry that each one holds. I just love college football!!
I'm used to it...ESPN seems to love the SEC, too.
At least they gave us a good coach!

It's going to be a fight on both sides. Oregon is NO JOKE.
Oh my gosh. This is an AWESOME idea. Where are you going this year?
Coincidentally, I will be at GameDay on Sept 3rd for the LSU/Oregon game, but that's with my LSU buddy and not for my annual meet-up.
This year the group game is Oct 8 in Fayetteville, Arkansas to see Auburn take on the razorbacks.
We did Big Ten last year, had the group meetup in Madison when Arizona State came to play the Badgers.
Year before we did a UT game that was up in Columbia, Missouri, and the year before was in Nashville to see Florida manhandle Vanderbilt (it was cool for me to see Tebow play in the flesh).
We'd love to do a PAC-10 spot, but sadly we don't have a host willing to step up for our group from one of those schools, so right now we rotate between SEC/ B12/BTen games.
The idea started years ago when one of our group members inspired us to make it a yearly event, as he is a retired traveler who likes to go to a new game every single weekend and travels the country by RV to do that.
Usually we try to pick a place that will be easy/cheap for people to fly in and out of, as well as games that won't be ridiculous on the price. It's been a really neat experience for me, and I have met so many great friends along the way while learning much more about the sport and it's traditions.
Howdy!
Aggie here, class of '06 and '10. Guess I should introduce myself too. I grew up an Aggie fan, and loved it so much I got 2 degrees. I married an Aggie fan, too, so fall is very fun in our house. winter and spring too, for basketball and baseball. he and I just love college sports in general.
professionally, I love the Astros (but ugh, this season needs to be over already), the Texas Rangers, the BoSox (loooooove Papelbon) and am a former fan of the Oilers (may they rest in peace). my hubby loves the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers and San Francisco Giants. last year's World Series was so awesome for him, he got to go to game 4 at the Ballpark with his dad and brother and was so happy.
as for the SEC, I've been supporting a move to that conference for several years now (even before Nebraska and Colorado left last summer). it's my favorite athletic conference, and I always watch when the SEC teams are on tv. Bama is my second favorite school and where I would have gone if I didn't go to A&M.

With college football starting, I'm sure I'll be on here more often so I should probably introduce myself as well. I actually work in sports, I'm an athletic trainer, but am now at the high school level.
I'm originally from the Pacific Northwest, born and raised but recently transplanted to South Carolina. I refuse to pick a SC team, too bandwagonie for me. I am a die hard Boise State fan, thanks to my DH who went there when we met. I also am a huge fan of Eastern Washington University (my alma mater) and cheer for my other alma mater Utah State University (who I concede will lose to Auburn. I wanted to be at that game, but alas, the tickets I had slipped through my hands. I'll settle for Boise vs Georgia and watch the Dawgs gets beat.
