Thanksgiving in Orlando - Please Help!

Lucky MN girl - I get to spend Thanksgiving week in Orlando.  Can anyone recommend a good restaurant for Thanksgiving dinner?  We'd like to make our reservations.  Thank you SO much in advance for your help.

Re: Thanksgiving in Orlando - Please Help!

  • Where in Orlando do you want to dine? What type of food are you looking for? What's your price range?

  • Thanks for the replies, you two!

You know, we really don't care where we go geographically, I just want a good restaurant.  It's worth the trip :)

    I'll check out the article.

  • I don't like Thanksgiving foods, so if you are looking for a traditional dinner, I won't be of much help. One of my favorite restaurants is Timpanos, which is an Italian restaurant in Dr. Phillips. There is also a great sit down restaurant (but pretty pricey) downtown called Manuals on the 28th (I think the number in the name is right!). It's at the top of one of our downtown buildings, and offers a great view.

  • I'm not sure if you're looking for Thanksgiving foods specifically. If you are, you might check with some of the really nice luxury hotels in town. Many of them put on a fancy holiday buffet for days like Thanksgiving and Christmas.

If you're open to anything, I can name some of my favorite special occasion restaurants in town. I am NOT sure if they are open on Thanksgiving or not, but any of these would be totally worth calling to find out:

    * Todd English's Blue Zoo at Disney's Swan and Dolphin Hotel (Seafood)

    * Le Coq au Vin just south of downtown Orlando (Country French)

    * The Oceanaire at Pointe Orlando (on International Drive/near Universal) (Seafood)

    * Roy's in Southwest Orlando not far from Universal (Hawaiian/Asian Fusion). Samba Room and Season's 52 are also located in the same shopping center and are good options.

Hope this helps. Enjoy your holiday in Orlando! The weather's usually glorious in November, so you picked a good time to visit.

  • I am a local and I always go out on Thanksgiving.

We go to Portofino Bay Hotel and eat at the Trattoria Del Porto. They have an amazing champagne brunch. DH and I have been going since it opened - I think it's been over 10 years or so. (The past four or five years, we have added my Mom, sister, and niece.)

It really isn't packed with tourist and the options are fabulous. They have stations at Trattoria -- seafood, pasta, omelets, salad, bread, sweets, carving, plus the turkey and the trimmings. They seriously have just about every food you could imagine.

They also have a section just for the kids -- so the children can sit and be entertained away from the table if need be. (The section is half blocked off -- so the kids don't "bug" you -- but you can still see them.) They also have craft stations -- they are fun for adults too!!! :)

I don't like touristy things very much . . . but I do enjoy this Thanksgiving tradition. DH and I used to work at Universal -- so that's how we started. The food and the service kept us coming back.
