Anyone else have trouble w/name change?
Someone goofed when work changed my email and they "deleted" my Outlook including all my emails and calendar. They have pulled it (things are regularly backed up) but it will be close to a week before I get my emails back but they said my calendar is toast. I am beyond frustrated right now as I've already missed one meeting because of this!
While the rational part of me knows that it was not on purpose, the fact that I've never felt comfortable here doesn't help. I already feel myself stressing out again now that I'm back. DH is supportive but I can't quit re money unless I find another job but there is nothing out there for me right now.
Think I just needed to vent, but was wondering if anyone else has had issues with changing their name? So far I've got my drivers license but still need to go to SSA and then keep going. Another small rant; work won't change my name on payroll until I get the SSA card, but they will screw up my computer changing my name! Grrrr!

So far I've only encountered one problem, and that was with Bank of America. I tried to change my last name on my Checking/Savings account, and they needed my mother's signature/okay in order to process it!
I started my BoA account back when I was in high school, so my mom is also listed on the account. But I DO NOT understand why they can't change my last name w/o her okay when I have my new WA ST ID, SS card, and the notarized marriage licence copy. It's my @$#%$^^ LEGAL name now, d*ckwads!
Sharingourlove: So sorry your current work's IT department is a bunch of incompetent idiots. I hope the problem is resolved ASAP, and you find a new and WAY better job!

Sharingourlove - I'm sorry that sounds like a total PITA. Good luck if you do decide to pursue a new job! I'd say you could have mine, but I wouldn't wish this on anyone!
And my name change was the biggest PITA. In full disclosure I was married before and Social Security royally screwed up my name change - I was taking my maiden name as my middle name, and they added it as a first last name. It took nearly 3 years for them to straighten it out. I was to the point that I was going to just pay the $1,000 to legally change my name back on my own, rather than go through their system. They admitted it was a data entry error on their part after they found my application etc. but that didn't fix anything any faster.
Fast forward to getting married this time, I decided to take the easy way out and not mess with anything but my last name!

That is such crap.
Work wouldn't change anything for me until I had my new SSN which was fine with me. It came in about a week after I went to the social security office. I recommend people go to social security first, DOL, then everything else. I really haven't had any issues with my name change.

OMG, this makes me feel so much better because I had the same exact problem.
H and I were already sharing the BOA account before we got married and they still wouldn't hyphenate my name even though I had all of the proper documentation. The lady told me I needed my H's "permission" to process the paper work since he was the original account owner. It was like 1950 all over again.
I do have an email distribution list that I'm hoping to get permission to send a note to saying that "due to a computer glitch my calendar was erased and if you have an appointment scheduled with me, please call".
The only problem I had with DOL was the wait. Good to know SSA is fairly quick. Thankfully the only thing at BofA is my credit card; everything else is through credit unions so I don't anticipate trouble.
I don't get why work waited until the day I came back to change things over; they had a week and a half to take care of things and make sure everything went smoothly. Not sure if they've done anything about changing my nametag, business cards and official ID and not sure I want to ask right now as I may take a head off! Thank heavens it's "date night" tonight!

The only problem I had was with my gym. I think their manager was just lazy and didn't process the paperwork like I asked her too. I got it taken care of later.
I did get kind of a funny look after moving back to WA and getting my new DL. I had to explain that I'd had a WA DL before but that it was under a different name (I got married and changed my name in CO). Everything worked out fine though.

Mine name change has been fairly easy so far. I'm waiting on SS Card to change my name at work - that's been the longest wait and most frustrating.
I also need to figure out how to get my car title changed as well as the deed on our house... eek.
they looped me in circles with who i was supposed to talk to. on two separate occasions.

my work still hasn't changed my email address.. it's annoying. i should bring it up. but i miss my old last name. i wish i would have knocked out my middle names and made it my maiden name.. it could still happen.

Didn't even think about car title - thank for the reminder. How long ago did you apply for SS card? If you did it in the office it's only suppose to take a week. I work with local SS offices as part of my job so if you want to PM me we can chat about it.
