Menu input

I'm starting to think menu for my kid's 3rd bday.  16 adults, 10 kids at 1ish on a Sunday in Sept.

Apps- peanut butter dip with apples and graham crackers; veg tray; shrimp dip

Main- chicken and noodles (it has peas and carrots in it); mashed potatoes; tossed salad; crusty bread

Dessert- ice cream cone cupcakes with toppings. I was going to put out some chopped nuts, sprinkles and cherries to put on.  Ice cream.

Is the main really lame?  I'm trying to keep it simple.

Re: Menu input

  • It sounds like you are trying to keep it kid friendly and not have pizza.  Most kids that I know would like it.
  • Are all the the children 3 years old? Will there be any other children there who are younger? You have a lot of nuts on the menu. Do you know your group well? No allergies?

If you want it to be kid friendly, maybe some finger foods? Chicken nuggest, french fries?

  • Is the chicken and noodles dish mushy?  Just thinking about it texture-wise next to the mashed potatoes.  Maybe some sort of cubed potatoes instead?
  • The kids are 5-12 and no allergies or vegetarians.  I'm going more for ease than kid friendly without doing a baked pasta.

Tar- I think the mashed potato thing is reagional.  You serve the noodles over the potatoes for one big carb fest.

  • I think it is simple and pretty kid friendly.

However, I also think that even though it's not that many adults, there isn't much to chose from. If someone doesn't like the chicken/noodle/mashed potato thing they are out of luck, ya know? Unless you know that they all like it.

You could do chicken strips with different dipping sauces (kids love dipping things). Also, in a crock pot chili or mac n cheese.
