wine and cheese

Ladies I need some suggestions... I'm having a Wine & Cheese themed tupperware party next month and I need some suggestions for cheeses. I have several bottles of wine here at home already but I don't eat any cheeses besides cheddar, and mozerella. Also does anyone have any other suggestions that I could make to go with the cheeses?

Re: wine and cheese

  • You'll want to have some soft cheeses and some hard cheeses. Brie, Goat Cheese, Sharp Cheddar, Havarti, Gorgonzola, Smoked Gouda, Herbed Cheese, etc You want a mix of texture/hardness and flavor.

Serve some crackers and hearty/crusty bread to go with the cheese. Other food to serve: some fruit (grapes, pear, apples), olives, dried fruit, almonds etc Things that will compliment the wine and cheese.

here is a great list of wine/cheese pairing I used when I did this kind of party

  • In addition to those listed above, Gruyere pairs well with several different types of wine.
  • Here is a picture of my cheese board that I always do for parties. It's really simple but a little of something for everyone. I have brie' cheese, gruyere, pepper jack cut into cubes, salami, olives, almonds, bread, crackers and dried fruit such as apricots.

I also make a brie' cheese appetizer that is really yummy! There is never any left. The recipe is here.

It might be good to show everyone at the end how you can pack up your cheese platter left overs into the tupperware easily at the end of the party! (no waste, and kept fresh for tomorrow)

  • I don't like cheese, but I wanted to suggest going to a deli and asking them for their suggestions. I've done this for several things in the past, and if you go to the right deli they have a lot of information to share. Some deli's even have guide books with wine and cheese pairings.
    Please pass the ice cream.
