Converting old VHS tapes

My father has some old VHS tapes of me and my brothers when we were kids. I'd really like to get them converted to DVDs or a flash drive. Does anyone know how to go about doing this?

Re: Converting old VHS tapes

  • We did this a few years ago. DH bought a VHS/DVD converter...it was like $150. Considering how many tapes we had to convert, it would have cost us a fortune to pay someone to do them for us. We sent our parents the DVD copies for the respective families. We have them stored digitally on our Time Capsule.

I'd highly recommend purchasing one of those converter machines and doing them yourself. It's so much cheaper than having someone else do it for you.

  • Ditto lilbride - you can buy a converter for a reasonable price.  My FIL did this and converted all of his VHS tapes.  He said the process was very simple and smooth.

    Good luck!

  • What is a time capsule and how do you use it to store?
