How did the wedding go today?
Re: Larissa
It was actually really good.
The ceremony was really nice (I cried) and really sweet. The bride wore s knee-length fitted & shirred wedding gown, and could totally pull it off 'cause she's short with a good body, I guess from yoga. My friend looked doofy as always, but good in his tux. The bridesmaids were in pretty light aqua really airy cocktail length dresses.
The cocktail hour had really good food - a falafel/hummus station, chinese food station, corned beef & pastrami station, sushi station, mashed potato bar, lox, and a bunch of other stuff. Oh, and caviar, which made E really happy. And open bar throughout the cocktail hour & reception.
The music was great (my friend chose the entire playlist and tried to "nod" to all the guests with certain songs), and the DJ/MC pretty good. He talked a bit much for my taste, but he was fun. There was a choice of salad between caesar and Cape May, with orchids. The main course was a choice of beef, chicken & fish - I had the pistachio salmon (not bad) and E had the chateaubriand, which he says was yummy. Veggies and a duo of mashed potatoes - regular and sweet potato. Since it was meat, there couldn't be dairy, so no butter for the bread or in the mashed potatoes.
The wedding cake was pretty & good, and the Viennese tables were really good. And they had a chocolate fountain.
We had a LOT of fun.
They did do the bouquet toss & garter toss, which really seemed to make people uncomfortable. At late 30s/early 40s it gets less fun and more "yes, I'm this old and still single." But they also did the anniversary dance (it was like they were trying to squeeze in every possible tradition) and it was the first time E & I got to dance one of those.
We were seated with my sis & BIL & good friends of ours, so we really had a great time. By the end of it, my strapless bra was cutting me in half and my feet were in pieces from dancing so much. Every time I tried to take a break and go to my seat, another awesome song would come on and bring me back to the dance floor.
