New to AK

My husband and I just relocated to Anchorage from Indiana about a week-and-a-half ago. We're pretty outdoorsy people and have been curious about some good camping/fishing/hiking locations in the area. Any recommendations?

Re: New to AK

  • Hi!  I'm not from AK, but hang out here a little with a couple of the destination wedding girls who live there.  I'm sure they'll have advice for you.

I'm from Indiana... I thought our winters were bad, but AK? Wow!! :)

  • Hello, you will have to excuse the other girls who are not from alaska, they took over our board... I however am from Alaska. hello and welcome. Most places you have to drive awhile to but they are great. For camping and fishing try Montana Creek, Seward, Talkeetna and there are so many hiking places just in Anchorage, flat top round top and then hatchers pass in Palmer. If you have any other question you can PM since our board has been over run by destination ladies.. by the way I think they should leave!

  • We are attempting to get our own board. In the meantime, you should really get the chip off your shoulder already. No one supported you on your last rant to get us to leave and thus far only one other AK person has come around.

  • Mrs. Streff - I am from Alaska and I brought my friends to this board with me.  If you don't like it - move on.  I can't stand people being so ridiculous over a board.  Get over it.

Well just so you are aware, you come off as a major f*ing b*tch. I kind of get the feeling from your little escapades on this and other boards that the impression is correct. I understand there isn't a lot of people in AK so maybe it's just a social issue from not dealing with women very often.
