Wedding Attire Help

You ladies always have great advice :)

We are flying up to VT for a wedding in September for Jeff's cousin. It's at a camp (a real camp, lean-tos, shared bathrooms, cabins w/o power, etc). It has a big building where they have receptions and events.  Jeff's mom called to ask about attire for everyone (the invitations were a simple panel invite on plain white cardstock, no RSVP card - all online - and nothing else) so we weren't really sure. She found out from the FOG that the bridal party will be in tuxes.

Being that it's Sept, a camp (I don't know how far in we need to walk or what the grounds look like), what would you wear? His family isn't overly dressy (most people came to our wedding in shirt and tie and we had a very formal affair) so would that be OK? I'm contemplating doing a skirt & top and dressing it up with heels and jewelry...or capris and the same, not knowing what the temp will be (and I'll admit it - after living south for the past 4 years, I get cold much quicker!)

Sorry this was rambly. I'm at a loss and need to really think about it since once school starts I won't have a ton of time to shop :)

Re: Wedding Attire Help

  • I think a nice dress and a button up sweater, wrap or something should be fine. I won't be getting all super dressy for camp type situation. It just sounds like it has a more laid back kind of feel to it, even if they are in tuxes, their venue suggests it.
Took 2 years & 8 months to make our baby! Lilypie First Birthday tickers
  • I think a skirt and shirt or a nice dress is fine.  I don't think I'd wear heels though.  I'd fear getting stuck in the mud.  I'd probably wear nice sandals instead.

I was going to suggest this too- heels and camps/parks don't mix!

  • I hate these type of things when I don't know what to wear, but I will recommend NO  HEELS... I wore tiny heels to an outdoor camp/cornfield kind of wedding and right after the ceremony RAIN STORM.. yep shoes got stuck  in the mud and they were brand new.. I was so mad. with the heels I wore like a tank dress that went to my knees

I always bring my heels in my bag :) I should've said that! I don't even wear them to work - flats to work on the train and then heels once inside :)

    thanks for the suggestions!

  • You could also try wedges...

I would skip the capris and go with a skirt or dress.
