I haven't been on much lately and those of you who are my fb friends know why. My mom was in a very bad car accident on august 4 and she lost the bottom portion of her right leg. These past few days have been exhausting. She is doing very well and is currently in rehab until her next surgery. She is healing like a champ and she has a great sense of humor. The coming months are going to be incredibly difficult. I am asking that you all keep us in your thoughts and prayers. I have a 9 year old brother and we are trying to keep a normal routine but he knows things will be very different for a while. I am currenly applying for FMLA. I can't afford to take any unpaid time right now but my company offers a paid time off donation program but I have to be approved for FMLA first. I am hoping and praying that I get approved because my mom needs me and I need to be there. Thanks in advance ladies!

We're not sure. She has an appointment on Wed with the wound clinic and they may discuss it a little more then. She has a wound vac so she is generating her own tissue which is what they wanted her to do before they do a skin graft. It is looking good so they may want to wait a little while longer to see how much more she can generate. It is pretty incredible.

Oh gosh Danielle, I'm so sorry! But I'm glad to hear she survived and it sounds like she's a strong woman to get through this. My support and prayers go out to you and your family.
The skin graft sounds very interesting! I ran by a man yesterday during the half marathon who didn't have the bottom portion of his right leg, but he was running the race. I was so inspired by him I started tearing up. Like Brooke said, what doesn't kill you will only make you stronger/more determined. *Hugs!*

I'm sending lots of good thoughts and vibes to you and your family.
I'm sorry to hear about the accident, but I am glad to hear that your mom is being really strong, and your being so supportive.
definitely sending my t&p your way! what a difficult thing to go though. dont be afraid to reach out for help - there are often lots of services people arent aware of - talk to the hospital case manager or social worker!
keep us updated!
