Re: champagne dreams

  • it's a cute little place and nicer on the inside than you would expect from the outside. i think it was a casual bbq joint before this came in. it's a great spot if you want a nice dinner out without breaking the bank. or maybe it just seemed inexpensive b/c we used a Scoutmob. There were two appetizers I saw go by that looked really really good ( yucca fritters and braised beef croquettes). I didn't try them since I had no one to share with since DH doesn't eat much meat.

I started with a kiwi caipirnha. I liked that they actually muddled fresh kiwi in there. Though, it was a tad tart. Next time, I might try the strawberry one. DH had a glass of wine.

For my entree, I had the braised beef ribs with yucca. I ate every last drop on my plate. DH had the special which was flounder (I think) with a butter sauce, mashed potatoes and sauteed veggies. he said it was some of the best prepared fish he's had. His only complaint was that there was too little fish. It was a small piece with the sides covering most of the plate. But I guess it was reasonable to expect that for a $12 fish entree.

    Service was pretty good overall.

  • was it busy? everytime we pass, there aren't a whole lot of cars.

it used to be a shane's. we NEVER saw anyone go in there! lol.

  • when we first got there at 630 there were maybe two other tables filled. when we left about 7:30 there were quite a few more. so, not super busy but enough that you didn't feel like you were at an abandoned restaurant.
  • Our Brazilian friends really liked it and the review on ajc.com looked good, so DH and I will try it the next opportunity we get. Our friends have known/followed Alex since he was at Sal Grosso years ago (in our opinion it went downhill after he left).
