Berber carpet...pro clean or do it with my bissell?
HI ladies, I do not post very often but I need suggestions. We just finished remodeling our bathroom and we have a lot of drywall dust that I think is ground in to our berber carpet in neighboring areas. Would you hire a professional or just try to use an at home carpet cleaner like a bissell? I'm worried that with the berber the water will just soak in.
Also, do you think we need to get our air ducts cleaned now? How often is normal for that?
Many thanks!
Re: Berber carpet...pro clean or do it with my bissell?
I would try vacuuming really well several times before you introduce water into the mix. Yes, berber is wool and will absorb water and take awhile to dry so keep that in mind as well. My bissel leaves the carpet more dry than the pro cleaner does, so maybe start there and if you feel like it's still not clean then have the pro come in. Just make sure you let the carpet dry really well between cleanings if you have to have 2 cleanings. But definitely start with the thorough vacuuming.
And I would wait to have the ducts cleaned once the remodel is over. Time it with the change of seasons, so do it this fall when you change out your HVAC filters.
