visiting st. louis-places to eat?
We will be in St. louis next month and are trying to find some good local places to eat. Preferably friendly to our almost 2 year old. So far all we have is a brewery DH wants to go to.
Re: visiting st. louis-places to eat?
We will actually we in western IL but we will be flying into St. Louis and spending most of our time there.
Here are some of my favorites around St. Louis. I tried to pick places that are closer to attractions like Forest Park and downtown. HTH!
- Adriana's (The Hill) - great Italian sandwich shop for lunch
- Favazza's (The Hill) - nicer Italian restaurant with to-die-for garlic bread
- Rigazzi's (The Hill) - another Italian place with a good mix of pizzas and pastas
- Highway 61 Roadhouse (Webster Groves) - mix of St. Louis/Cajun/BBQ. Huge portions, reasonably priced.
- Lafayette Fire Company (Lafayette Square) - laidback, casual, home cooking, run by local firefighters
-Square One Brewery (Lafayette Square) - pub-type food, lots of locally grown ingredients
You took all the words right outta my mouth. lol. Tap Room (the Schlafly Brewery) is one of our favorites and Fitz's is awesome. Plus, The Loop (where it is located) is a really cool place to visit while you are in St. Louis.
OP, if your husband is interested in Mico Breweries, also check out Square One. They have great beer and great food. And they are located in Lafayette Square which is another neat little neighborhood.
For the best burger in town, go to Seamus McDaniels. It is in Dogtown. Dogtown is just south of Forest Park. You could go to the zoo, walk over to turtle park, and then down Tamm Ave. 1208 Tamm Avenue Saint Louis, MO 63139.
Another favorite is Pappy's Smokehouse. It's at 3106 Olive Street, Saint Louis, MO. It was on Diners, Drive-ins, & Dives. You should be there early though, because once they sell out of something, it is gone. They have amazing pulled pork. Their sides are great too... sweet potato fries, potato salad, fried corn on the cob, etc.
Down in the Soulard neighborhood, I would go to Hammerstones. They have great chicken fingers and bloody mary's. Delish! 2028 S. 9th Street Saint Louis, MO 63104.
Other than that, Schlfly's is great! Rigozzi's garlic pizza is so so so good, if you LOVE garlic. They also have FISHBOWL beers...
HOPE THIS HELPS!
mmmmmmm, Seamus McDaniel's. Yum! Our dog is actually named after this pub because it was after a night there with friends (and lots of beers) that MH and I decided we were ready for the "pet" step. He's a red haired golden retriever, so the name Seamus fit him perfectly.
We have never been to Pappy's. MH has always wanted to go we just haven't made it yet!
