OL Tuesday

I have to post and run but I had a few.....

Dear Bill,

We've lived together now for over two years.  It still amazes me how you sometimes don't realize how I do things.

Dear Certain People,

When you say that you don't care but then continually comment about it, you actually do care.  Just sayin'.

Dear Coordinator,

You couldn't coordinate an effort to get out of a wet paper bag.

Dear Administrator,

You told us that we would be having innovating, relevant training yesterday.  Well, to a lot of us, it just seemed like the same old same old.

Dear Other Administrators and Coordinators,

School starts in four days and some of my coworkers still have no idea what they're teaching.  Get it in gear.

  • (crap... I posted, but got an error message and my post deleted...)

    Dear Nesties,

    HI!  I know it's been a while!
I was in WA for 15 days finishing up my Officer Candidate School training, then home for 4 days, then in Austin for my commisssioning ceremony for 3 days.  In the midst of that, I got hired for a full time job (YAY) which I'm training for this week, before heading to VA for a few days (to help my dad with some family stuff).
Basically - things have been a whirlwind for the past month.

Hope everyone is doing well, and I'll try not to be such a stranger!

    -Nestie who has been MIA

  • Diana,
    Hi!!  Congrats on everything!

    Dear people,
Do you ever notice that when you try too hard to fit in with everyone, you end up not fitting in with anyone?  What do you do then? Move on to the next people that you can drive crazy?  This is a genuine question.

    Dear new shampoo and conditioner,
Isn't it funny how a little change can really make your hair feel wonderful?  Feel free to stick around for a while.

    Dear best friend,
You're starting nursing school on Monday, and I know your life will be engulfed with it.  And I will miss you.

    - Brianna

  • Dear Blogger-

You magically erased my entire blog last night.  Now I have to retype the whole thing.  BOO.

    Dear Brianna-

What is your new shampoo?  I have buy some this weekend and I am looking for suggestions.

    Dear Self-

Frankie Says Relax.  This weekend really took a toll on you and the extra day you had yesterday wasn't very productive since you couldn't get your brain organized. Just breathe....and get it together.  The only one that can put the train back on the track is you.

  • Sara -

I bought it at Target because I love the minty smell, but it's John Freida Root Awakening Shampoo and Conditioner.  It's not the super expensive stuff, and they had it on special for 2 for $10.  I really like it a lot.

  • Dear CW-

If I were to look up the word impulsive in the dictionary, sadly your picture would be there.  I don't even know why I try to talk you off the edge anymore because you jump no matter what, only to kick yourself the rest of the day.  And instead of keeping this to yourself, you go to our other coworker that you suck up to and divulge all of your mistakes, which is pretty stupid because you know she is compiling a list of all of our wrongdoings to give our new boss.  All I can do is turn up the volume on the radio to tune your whining out.

    Dear Kate+8-

I won't miss you.  'bout time you are off the air.

    Dear Sal the salamander-

I'm glad you are out of our house but I hope you are making it in the wild.

  • Dear Faux Politicos - I am over your "politics." All spewing on Facebook about "the far right" or the "liberal left" does is make you look like a soundbyte educated idiot. - Leslie

This is really more of an open letter to lots of people - Lately I have become increasing annoyed with the holier than thou and very first world snobbish behavior I have been seeing all over. It is digusting to make jokes about those less fortunate than you or to be a judgy b!tch who believes everyone else beneath you. I sincerely hope you never experience loss in your life because you will not only be ill-prepared to deal with it but the dearth of compassion from others will come as a (completely unjustified) surprise to you. - Leslie

Dear School - I am ready for you to start. This job is mindless and I need to endure some sort of intellectual exercises before I experience complete atrophy. - Leslie

Dear Nesties - My great-grandmother continues to amaze. She fell down a flight of stairs because she was balancing her bird cage and a bucket while trying to do the stairs. She has no broken anything and just one bruise. For nearly 90 years old I would say this is an accomplishment. Thanks for the T&P! - Leslie

  • Dear Imposter Dog -

Who are you, and what have you done with my sweet, potty-trained Crispin?!  This peeing in the house thing is enfuriating, especially when we installed a little doggy door just for you.  I know you know how to use it, because you love to run outside as I leave every morning and bark at me.  And last night - to get up in the middle of the night, go pee in the living room, and come back to bed?!  I think you ruined your dad's day, he was so mad.  I hope you enjoy being confined to the kitchen today, because we do not want to come home to peed-on carpet again any time soon.  PS, please retrain your bladder, or return the real Crispin.  We still love you though.

    Love, your frustrated mother.

    Dear OMHs,

I have a 3 hour meeting over lunch today with our whole department - I'm not looking forward to it, because there's real work that we all need to be doing if we're going to meet our deadlines.  So, I'll be MIA most of the day.

ETA:  Dear Leslie - yay for the great news about your great grandmother - that is so amazing!  Please tell her to only carry one thing up and down the stairs at a time though, she had us all worried :)

It's 9 am - and you come out swinging!  I like fiesty Leslie.  :)

  • Dear Diana,

    Hi!

    Dear Leslie,

    Glad your grandma is okay.

    Dear Ginger ale,

Even though you didnt calm my tummy last night you were still yummy.

    Dear CW,

Is it necessary for you to sing loudly and not very well at 7 in the morning.

Yay for good news and nothing being broken.

  • Yay Leslie - so glad to hear the great news!

Haha - It had been brewing for awhile. Starting with that random blogger girl last week and culminating with a few "friends" on FB this morning, it just needed to come out.

BL - Are you still not feeling well? Any idea what's up?

Angie - I used to hate big meetings. Always so boring and way too much grandstanding. I hope you can hide in the back and surf the net. :)

Diana - Hi! I was too "full steam ahead" with my open letters this morning and didn't see you! Congrats on all of the new things going on in your life, it sounds like things are really going well for you. Come around more, we miss you! -

Thanks girls! I reminded her that she was not a spry 78 anymore and she needed to take it easy. :)

  • Dear Leslie,

I feel mostly better but my stomach seems to get unhappy multiple (random) times throughout the day.  I am now starting to think its just some sort of little bug that I need to wait out.

  • Dear Leslie - Glad to hear that your grandmother is doing well!

    Dear car -

Thanks for dying on me this morning.  It would be great if it was just the battery and not the starter or the alternator that needs to be replaced.

  • Dear DFW Nesties,

Sorry I've been MIA the past couple of weeks.  Work has been INSANE! I hope things calm down soon.

Dear CW who confused my new haircut with a wig,

I'm not sure if I should be insulted, or have taken your comment as a compliment.  Either way, I still like my hair :)

    Dear Leslie,

    Your great-grandma rocks!!

  • Lauren - "Just the battery" vibes your way. Big Smile

BL - I hope it passes soon.

I am such a Harry Potter nerd. I was lurking on Married Life and some girl said she had her Facebook locked down like Azkaban to illustrate how private her settings were. I laughed a little then though about it and started formulating reasons that statement didn't work. Azkaban was breeched in the end, everyone got out and the lock down was therefore ineffective. Because I like not being on fire I kept it to myself, but it still bothered me.

Do you ever notice that when you try too hard to fit in with everyone, you end up not fitting in with anyone?  What do you do then? Move on to the next people that you can drive crazy?  This is a genuine question.

Dear Brianna, I've been asking myself the same question lately. The people I've been meeting lately -- I can't explain it -- they just aren't "getting" me and something feels very "off" about my social interactions lately. It made me feel more insecure than I've felt in a long time. So, I've decided to stop worrying if they like or dislike me, and if I fit in or not, and just be me and have a good time with whoever I am with. And, more importantly, to stop noticing/worrying if it feels "off" because, chances are, my worrying/insecurity is why it feels "off" in the first place or they can sense that I'm trying. I don't know if that made any sense at all...but it does in my own head and it's made me feel a little better for the next time I go out.

--Nestie who's even more grateful than ever to have found my DH, who sometimes feels like the only person in the world that does "get" me

    Lauren,

My car died a couple of weeks ago.  The battery light came on and everything. I had to take the battery out and take it to AutoZone to be recharged.  It was fine after that.  I did also have to get a new alternator, but I really think those two things were unrelated.  My DH said he read somewhere that when it's a bazillion degrees out, the heat can drain a battery.

  • Dear Leslie,

I am glad that your grandmother is doing ok.

    Dear Nesties,

I have been MIA recently but I still lurk but work is busy so I don't post much, but I wanted to say hi!

    Dear Baby Hoz,

Can't wait to see you on the 3D/4D ultrasound on Saturday and can't believe we get to meet you in about 100 days! :)

  • Dear Littlest Niece,

I am so sorry I have to miss your princess birthday party this weekend. Your not-so-smart auntie didn't get a plane ticket soon enough. It's not every day a girl turns three and I hate to not be there. It hurts me much more than you Sad

    Dear SIL,

DH and I are not "lucky" because we can pay our bills. We live within our means. You should try it sometime - it makes life a whole lot easier to enjoy. Oh, and not everything is about money. So please try to brainstorm a few new topics for our next conversation.

    Dear Nesties,

    Good Morning!!!

I owe you a DVD.  I totally forgot to bring it to book club.  I am so scattered lately, but I apologize for my forgetfulness.

What?!?!? Oh my. What an awful ending to a very bitter and destructive relationship. That couple had a heap o' troubles, but I'm shocked he would just end his life. Very very sad.

  • Dear OMHs,

Thank you for everyone who has replied to the 'Things to do in DFW' thread.  I'm going to sticky it on Friday and I think that's going to also lock it.  So, if you want to reply to that thread, please do so by Friday.

     Thanks, me.

  • Sara - It's NBD. I forgot too. :) - Leslie

Girls - I simplified my cake pricing thread since the whole poll thing didn't work out. Could you please take a sec to pick a cake price? If you don't mind answering the other questions I would really appreciate it too. If not, that's okay too! :) - Leslie

  • Dear Leslie, that is GREAT news about your GM!

Dear Nesties, I left work at 5 yesterday and was in bed by 6:30, asleep by 8:30 and slept until 8 am this morning.  I am seriously starting to worry about myself.  I feel Ok today, not great.  I certainly couldn't run a marathon or anything.

  • Harry Potter fans -

I found out yesterday that one of my coworkers is like BFF with Daniel Radcliffe! Okay, maybe not BFF, but they have mutual friends (people who work on Broadway) and he hung out with him while he was in New York. I was sups jealous! Also, my sister's boyfriend was friends in high school with Emma Watson's boyfriend.

Leslie, I'm glad your grandmother's ok!

Lauren, I hope it's just the battery! We've had more than our share of car troubles with our current POS, so I know that feeling of holding your breath!

  • Leslie & Lacey & Anna -

Thanks!!  It ended up being just the battery (even though it wouldn't start when we jumped it).  The guy said it should be reading 590 and was reading 48, whatever that means.  One new battery later and I'm good to go!  Funny because the last time it died was four years ago, almost to the date (right around DH's birthday).
