Our family room has no window coverings. We get a nasty glare on the TV, especially in the fall. We have drapes, but they don't cover the windows and they're too short and weren't ever really my style (buffalo plaid).
The room is currently torn apart so the ceiling can be fixed (they're scraping and re-texturing the entire thing. FML.) and I'm taking this opportunity to "re-do" it.
I don't love the color scheme I have going right now. It's more subdued than I'd like. (muted blues, greens, gray).
Our front room (which doesn't attach), is mustard/black/white/gray and I like the boldness of that a lot better (but don't wnat to do the same in the family room). We have greige carpet and walls, white trim, tan couches and black shelving/entertainment center -- a pretty neutral palette.
I've decided I can sew roman shades and I want to get started, but I don't know what color scheme I want to go with. We spend A LOT of time in our family room and I want something fun and fresh and pulled together.
Any suggestions? FWIW, my favorite color is green.
Re: Help! I need inspiration!
I saw this on pinterest the other day and I thought it was really cool (and pretty cheap!!) Might be fun to find a fabric you like for these and then base everything else in the room around it as far as the colors go! And you can make pillows out of the fabric with some other complementary fabrics to tie it all together.

Don't know how big your windows are, but I like how in this pic they did something like these fabric coverings, but then put white shears on the windows as well since they are bigger windows! And I love the shade of green on these walls...

If it's still on the market, you might continue with the subdued/neutral colors so a buyer can do their own color scheme.
Otherwise, I would probably kick it up a few color notches with those same blue/green/gray tones and then do some roman shades with a fun pattern with all those colors in it. I love roman shades, but I definitely cannot sew my own!
