Gift Ideas for a 3-year old - Help!

It's my niece's birthday party this weekend, and I need some help with gift ideas!!

I was planning on flying out for the party, but tickets are way too expensive. So now I need to mail something out to her.

She has an older sister (who is 5) so they have TONS of princess stuff, dress-up things, etc. I was thinking either an art/coloring set, or a "Big Sister" gift. My brother & SIL are expecting Baby #3, so they're making a big deal of Evie becoming a Big Sister and having to help "baby-sit" at daycare.

Any creative ideas?

Re: Gift Ideas for a 3-year old - Help!

  • I vote for a gift that is just for her birthday.  Get her the Big Sister gift when Baby #3 is born.

Hmmm, I have no idea what kids like these days but when my daughter was 3 she loved to "play store" (oh how many hours did I spend playing store!), she still loved her kitchen, her dollhouse and she wanted a baby doll that could eat and poop.  Kids this age like to help and mimic what mommy is doing.  Art, coloring, markers, painting, play-doh are all good ones too.

  • Thanks for getting the ball rolling - you gave me some great things to think about. I also am not super familiar with what's popular these days....

I like the idea of getting her something that she can play "imagine" with. I'll check with my Brother and see what types of things (store, office, school) she's into these days.

And good point on the Big Sister gift -- that deserves it's own special day Smile

    Thanks!!
