I'm pregnant, we don't know what I'm having yet, but we would like to do a dinosaur theme either way. I can not find a girly dinosaur crib set. I found two that I thought were neutral enough to go either way but df says they are too boyish for a girl. So I was wondering if I could find a girly dinosaur pattern and maybe have the set made. I don't plan to use a bumper so I guess it would just be a quilt and some decorations. I figure you guys might have some suggestions where I could find that kind of fabric? I looked at JoAnn's and Hancocks but figured maybe there were online suggestions?
Also I have found people on etsy who are willing to do a custom crib set. I have a crafty friend who loves to quilt. I was wondering if it would be offensive to ask her to do the work for me? I don't think most crafty folks would find that offensive, but wanted to check. I am more than willing to pay for her to do it, it just would mean more to me to have a friend do it.
Or if I have no sewing experience what is the chance I could learn to sew and make my own before baby gets here in Feb? ![]()
Re: girly dinosaur fabric and a question for quilters?
Here's a good start on fabrics- some of them are lighter colors and there's even a pink texture blender.

There are more fabric shops in the FAQ too, I personally use a lot of Etsy and Hawthorne Threads.
As far as who to ask, I'd ask your friend first and offer to pay her, and then if she doesn't make the decision if you'd like to learn yourself or if you'd like to hire an Etsy person. You can definitely learn by Feb.
If you want to DIY, there's a thread down on the page that says "How Hard is Quilting" or similar that has some info on getting started.
