I had a third round of interviews yesterday with a company. It was a bit of an intimidating situation as they had all 3 final candidates come in at the same time. We then met with different people at different times, so weren't in the same room together ever and didn't hear each other's answers to questions. But, I was able to meet the other two candidates and one of them is already an employee for the company in another department (i.e. internal candidate).
I feel that the interview went really well and I know I have the experience and the skills for the job, but I can't help but think that I'm screwed if I am up against an internal candidate. If they brought him this far, how could they not hire him? And, if he doesn't get the job - won't that make for an awkward work environment for the new hire?
Any thoughts or insights?
TIA

Also remember that an internal candidate is no always a shoe in for the job. I applied for a position internal and didn't get it and I was fine with that. The lady that they did hire was probably a better fit looking back.
I would think if he had any sense or was a professional he would understand if he didn't get it and be fine with whoever did.
Wow- congrats! You give me hope!
