swiffer question

I have a swiffer broom from several years ago when I thought they were the greatest thing ever. It didn't take me long to realize how wasteful they are and stop using it. Anyway, we just got a new bed and I cannot get the vacuum to fit under it. I know that I would be able to get the swiffer under there, and actually I think I would definitely prefer to "swiffer sweep" our wood floors anyway. Is there some kind of re-usable/washable cloth that I can get that will pick up the dust/cat hair/everything else? I don't think a regular dry towel will do the trick.

Thanks ladies!

Re: swiffer question

  • Can you pin a microfiber cloth to the broom head?

  • I didn't think of microfiber, I bet that would work.

  • PP's suggestion sounds good, and you can also find a variety of tutorials of how to make reusable covers; using one of them, with microfiber might replicate the swiffer pads.  Here are a couple.

  • If you go to Etsy and search for swiffer, there are a few sellers on there that make reusable microfiber covers.

  • they have a new product called the Rubbermaid Reveal Mop. Its just like the swiffer but has reusable washable cloths. says you can wash up to 100 times. and you use your own floor cleaning solution. I've read some pretty good reviews so far but I have yet to try it

We have one of these and we love it.

Before, we were DIYing it with microfibers on the Swiffer, and it was such a pain trying to prevent the friction from causing the Swiffer head to flip up when using it wet (it was no problem dry, but it always felt like it was scratching the floor with the kitty litter, so we prefer to sweep with a traditional broom).

  • i use the microfiber washclothes that I found in the target dollar bins for both wet and dry on my swiffer sweeper.  I really like them for dry since my kids lover pushing it around and it would cost me a fortune if Ihad to keep giving them clean swiffer pads!

  • Thanks for all of the tips! I ended up buying some reversible covers from etsy, one side is fleece for "dry" the other side is terrycloth (I think) to use for mopping. So far, so good!
