H and I currently carry Progressive car insurance on both of our vehicles. Our insurance guy (H's old frat buddy) told us about this possible discount we could receive for putting this tracker thing on each vehicle to monitor our driving habits. It basically tracks what times you drive, how many miles, and how you break (hard brakes vs slow brakes, which determine what type of traffic you are in) over a 30 day period. We both drove pretty "badly" (during the hours of 2am-5am because of our jobs on the weekends, which is considered the worst time to be on the road), and lots of hard brakes. We still got a discount though of $50 for the 6 month policy! They just applied it one time rather than prorating it over the course of the policy, so my payment was $50 less this month! If you have Progressive it is worth checking out.
Re: PSA Progressive discount
Oh wow.
Does it track how fast you go?
I would get dropped from my insurance I'm sure.
I'm Ricky Bobby over here.
You can see everything you do on the website, which is actually kind of cool. It does show how fast you drive but that is not a factor in determining the discount. And they do guarantee your rates will not go up as a result of the snapshot.
I was sure we would not get a discount but pleasantly surprised.
They went down about $5 per month. But we will be saving money on his tickets
lol. Oh.
What kind of car did he get to replace the Z?
He got an XTerra. It's pretty awesome. It is a bit more of a gas hog but at least it uses regular gas when the Z took premium. We also mostly use my Corolla for city driving. The XTerra has already come in handy when we needed to tow a trailer. Also we could strap our doors on top when we got them, and fit a ton of tile and drywall in it. Now he can take his truck to ride his bike at Croom instead of having to take my car (I mentioned I wouldn't drive the Z right?) and it will be great in a few years when out kid is old enough to take a bike ride in GA
I still def miss the Z, but we keep in touch with the guy who bought it and it's really nice to know it's being babied and taken care of, and if the guy ever decides to get rid of it, we will buy it back. In the meantime, the money really came in handy for our roof and home repairs.
Lol, don't rush it. I like Scions. It's way better than my boringass Corolla which is paid for and will be driven until its wheels fall off.
I will have to see about doing the tracker. We don't have comutes or drive that much day to day. Sounds worth looking ino- I like discounts.
On a side note, I have an Xterra. I've had it for 10 years and still am very happy with it. I've always said I'd probably wind up getting another whenever the time comes for a new one. Unless of course a Range Rover was in my budget, but I don't see that in my near future.
