has anyone done this? H never had braces and really should, mostly for the health of his teeth, although I'm sure he would prefer that they looked nice too. I was reminded of it today because there was a LivingSocial thing - not sure if that's a good way to go since it's pretty serious, but the deal is pretty amazing. Regardless, hopefully next year we'll have two incomes and I think we should look into it.
How do you know if a place is good? Is there a good website for Dr-related reviews? I've just always had the same dentist and never needed to 'shop around' so I don't know what the best way of finding out if a place is reputable or not.
Re: Invisalign
when i was looking for an OB, i first went off of my insurance, then preference from hear-say (which hospital was best), and when there was still over 100 choices, i narrowed it down to chinese-speaking dr's....then googled all of their names.
there is lots of information out there, and i wouldn't limit it to a single a yelp-like website, i'd dig as deep as you can (facebook?) to find the dr/dentist you trust the most. i found at least 4 or 5 different "rate-your-doctor" websites.
some insurances cover partial orthodontics (not nearly enough, but partial)..i would start there, then go with what you're looking for (ones that do invialign), location/convenience, then maybe from there start googling all your docs.

jumped ship to the new and improved nest. back to TB for baby boards.
Seattle Met always puts out a list of top docs in Seattle. You might be able to find an orthodontist through there. When I was a kid my mom found my ortho from a rec from my dentist.
TBH, I found my current eye doctor that I loved through Yelp. She had really high rating and took my insurance. I took a chance on her and couldn't be happier.
Also, I'm not entirely sure if what I had was invisilign, but if it was then IMO it was pretty crappy.
I had braces (and pre-braces) for about 6 years, got them off and then after losing 1 or 2 retainers my orthodontist gave me a retainer type thing that was clear and fit over my teeth. Even though I wore it I swear it didn't really help. Granted it's been about 15 years since I've had braces and I haven't worn an upper retainer in about 8 years, but my teeth are starting to move.
You should consult an ortho though.

Best sound ever: baby's heartbeat! (Heard @ 10w1d)
good point. Yeah, I mean, we're prepared (mentally, not financially yet lol) to pay for all of it - I just emailed the benefits people to find out. Also, I would think it's bad enough that for health reasons it should be necessary, but obviously that's for the dentist to decide (I feel like he has mentioned it before though). thanks!

This was my orthodontist too! (I say this like I've been there recently, but it's probably been close to 10 years) He is a really good orthodontist.
thanks for the recommendations!
