Music...ugh! What do you do?

I've got piles of CD's, some I listen to, many that I just want to burn and get rid of the copy of.

What have you done with your CD's?

Do you only buy digital?  I don't really buy new music but I think I'll probably just buy it digitally since I'm now an IPhone user?

I just learned about Google Music, so it finds and stores all my music in their cloud... makes me think I could get rid of the CD's that are truly "eh, not a huge deal if the songs disappeared on my computer."

Re: Music...ugh! What do you do?

  • We bought an external hard drive and burned all of our CDs onto that drive, which works with our iTunes. I did keep the CDs, though. I bought one of those large CD holders, put all of the CDs in there and then chucked the cases, liners, etc. I just felt like I wanted a backup just in case.

This is pretty much exactly what we did too!  Except I kept the liners for the CDs and just stuffed them into the sleeves for my CDs in the big case.  My husband has an insane collection of music so we're slowly working on loading those onto our drive too.

  • I mostly buy iTunes now, but I put all my cds in a big cd folder case, kept some of the art if it was good/useful, and chucked the cases.  We did the same thing with most of our dvds and reduced a book case of stuff to three or four folder cases.  You'll never miss the cases.
  • I added the songs I liked to my iPod and sold the CD's at a garage sale.
