I'm back again for some more advice! I hate bleach, I have always hated bleach. However, when DH and I first moved in together over 4 years ago, FIL felt it necessary to send a giant bottle of bleach with DH to our new apartment. The fact that I still have said bottle is proof that I do not want to use it. The problem is, my washable shower curtain liner (the fabric kind) gets very dingy on the bottom. I wash it frequently, nothing does the trick. DH suggested a while back to bleach it to see if that would work, I did not want to do it, but I was out of suggestions and we were having people coming to stay over at our house, and I was embarrassed of our shower curtain. It worked then, but I haven't bleached since and I really don't want to.
So after that long story, what would you use in the laundry to get this shower curtain back to it's whitest?
Re: bleach alternative?
Oxygen bleach (like oxyclean), diluted peroxide or a cleaner using one of these (like this one http://www.staples.com/Seventh-Generation-Natural-Shower-Cleaner-Spray-32-oz./product_700931?cm_mmc=GoogleBase-_-Shopping-_-Office_Supplies%3ECleaning_Supplies-_-700931-SEV_22752&cid=CSE:GoogleBase:Office_Supplies:Cleaning_Supplies:700931:SEV_22752) (sorry for the long link). We wash ours regularly with detergent and oxyclean powder and that works well.

I haven't tried it yet, but someone told me they swear my murphy's wood oil/soap to clean mildew off their shower curtain. I'm actually anxiously waiting for mine to get mildewy enough to try it.
For laundry, use borax. It's amazing. DH is a die-hard bleach fan for laundry, but he even prefers borax.
